Many weeks later, Harry was walking to the library intending to finish his
homework for Professor Flitwick. But as he walked along the shelves, trying to find a table he saw Hermione. Harry waved and hurried over to her but Hermione didn’t seem to notice.

As Harry got closer to Hermione’s and Pansy’s table he noticed something very shocking. Hermione’s hand was resting on top of Pansy’s. She seemed to be trying to finish work of her own but she was unsuccessful as Pansy kept distracting her.

Harry stepped out from behind the bookshelf from which he had been watching Hermione and Pansy. “Hermione?” Harry said, staring at her hand.

Hermione jumped and her hand flew off of the top of Pansy’s.

“Harry? Oh, hello!” she waved with a fake smile plastered across her face.

Pansy watched Hermione carefully. “Hermione, there’s no point in hiding it anymore,” she said quietly.

Hermione’s hand fell upon the table and she looked up at Harry. Harry folded his arms and looked at Hermione expectantly. She let out a great sigh and began to explain
everything to Harry.

Hermione told Harry how Pansy had apologized to her over the summer and Hermione had forgiven her. She told Harry how at the beginning of term Pansy and Hermione had started dating and they had been trying to keep it a secret from everyone.

When Hermione had finished talking she leaned back in her chair and watched Harry for his reaction. He didn’t say anything. But Hermione continued to watch him fearfully.

“Well?” Hermione said after she realized that Harry wasn’t going to speak.

“Well, what?” Harry asked but he knew what she meant.

“Are you fine with it?” Hermione replied, still looking terrified.

“Of course I am,” Harry said, smiling which seemed to scare Hermione even more. “Why wouldn’t I be?”

Hermione smiled back. “I don’t know. I was nervous because of what Ron said.”

Pansy watched this conversation silently but when Hermione said Ron’s name she interrupted. “You shouldn’t have to worry about him! He was a git! He had no right
to yell at you like that!”

Hermione looked at Pansy and she was looking scared again. But Harry
interfered before Pansy could go into another rant about Ron.

“Have—have you told Ron yet, Hermione?”

“Of course not, Harry,” Hermione replied, jumping a little at the thought. “Did you see how he acted when he just saw Pansy and I talking? He would kill me if I told him.”

Harry considered this and nodded. Then he said, “Well, I’ve got to go. ‘Bye Hermione and Pansy!”

Harry hurried out of the library thinking about his conversation with Hermione and Pansy. He was bewildered by the thought of Hermione and Pansy dating. But he
wasn’t going to be like Ron. Hermione could be with whoever she wanted to and she shouldn't have to worry about Ron’s or Harry’s reactions

Ron shouldn’t have made Hermione feel so scared. He had no right to yell at Hermione like he did. With this thought, sudden anger at Ron bubbled up inside Harry as he marched off to the Gryffindor common room.
