Over the weekend Harry was forced against his will to go to the Slytherin common room to work with Malfoy. Hermione had insisted that Harry get started because the project was due in a week. They had to brew the potion they were assigned and write an essay about the magical properties of their potion.

Harry and Malfoy had been assigned amortentia, the love potion. Harry had been putting off the time that he would have to see Malfoy though and was not pleased when Hermione started nagging him.

“I know that you’re mad at him Harry but you need to get this project done,” Hermione persisted.

She was the only one who knew about the fight Harry had with Malfoy. Harry didn’t dare tell Ron that he had become friends with Draco Malfoy. He would do the same thing that he had done to Hermione. So Harry had kept his friendship a secret from Ron.

“Fine,” Harry groaned and stood up. He opened the portrait hole, shot Hermione an annoyed look and left the common room.

As Harry walked down to the dungeons his brain was working furiously as he put all his energy into hating Malfoy. But Harry wasn’t paying attention to where he was going and he bumped into Malfoy on the marble staircase.

They both looked at each other and then Malfoy mumbled, “I-I was just going to see if you were ready to start the project.”

Harry didn’t say anything. He just nodded and they made their way to an empty classroom to work. Harry and Malfoy set up their supplies in silence and didn’t speak for nearly half an hour.

“Harry,” Malfoy finally said, tentatively. “Please let me explain what happened.”

Harry ignored him and pretended like he was reading from the book for the next ingredient.

“Harry, please!” Malfoy pleaded and it was at this point that Harry lost his
temper.

“I don’t want to hear what you have to say!” Harry shouted, turning to face Malfoy.

He picked up a bottle of moonstone angrily and turned it upside down over the bubbling potion.

Harry continued to shout but Malfoy wasn’t watching him. His eyes were on the bottle in Harry’s hand. Then suddenly Malfoy lunged at the bottle which Harry had upside down over
the cauldron. “Potter, that’s too much moonstone—!”

A flash of white light filled the room and Harry and Malfoy fell backward and moved no more.
