Chapter 10

Today I woke up in the runner's room which is my hut for the time being. It's very generous of Alby to give me this space because he could have just told me to share a hut with someone but it's quite annoying when Minho, Thomas, Ben and all the other runners come in when I'm sleeping because I often sleep nearly naked. And of course I have a blanket, but it tends to slip off the bed when I'm sleeping. Thomas being the amazing person he is, always puts the blanket back on without looking and doesn't tell me about anything that happened but it's still very embarrassing when someone else tells me. The good thing is that even though I wasn't planning on being one, I actually like being a gardener and even though I don't really know how to garden, Newt is a very good teacher. Gally is a very good brother and he is currently making a special hut just for me, with accessories like a table, chair and mirror for when I'm getting ready or when I want to read or write. He's also making me a wardrobe for dresses as all the other boys only have shelves. Even though I've only had him as a brother for a couple of weeks he already feels like family to me and we love eachother very much. He always tries to make me feel comfortable in every discussion and he always includes me even when I have no idea what they are talking about. Even though there hasn't been anything going on in the past few days there is always something fun to do in the glade. For example: If it's summer the best activities are going to the lake for a dip, camping in the forest (just camping anywhere really) and unfortunately, work. Then in the winter we can't do work because it's so cold and none of the vegetables grow (that's where the tinned food comes in handy.) All you can really do is either try and keep warm or play in the snow and freeze to death. Today is more or less the 13th of March from what Alby's told me so we are kinda in the middle, and it is currently 11:37. I am in my bed right now and I'm not tired at all despite the time. I can't sleep at all because of all the noise coming from the bonfire tonight. I don't really know why but I didn't want to join in the fun tonight as I kinda just wanted some alone time. But of course that can't happen in the glade so as soon as I sat down on my bed I heard a voice behind me. "Hi Y/n '' Newt said from the other side of the room. "Hi Newt" I said back to him, still not turning round from my bed. "I brought you some of Gally's drink in case you wanted some, '' he said quietly. I finally stopped making my bed and turned around, "Thanks Newt, that's kind of you" I said while taking it from his hands, smiling. "Why aren't you at the bonfire tonight?" he asked me, sitting on the bed and tapping next to him. I sat down, like he asked and said "I just wanted some alone time, that's all" "Oh, I'll go then" Newt said getting up and getting ready to leave. "No no Newt, you can stay if you want" I said to him smiling, Newt aways did that to me. He had the power to change my emotions completely in a matter of seconds whether I like it or not. It was like he somehow controlled my emotions, like he controlled a part of me that I didn't know I had.
