Chapter 20

Hi Guys! I'm sorry for not posting for 5 days!  I made this chapter extra long today so then I could kinda make up for it... I hope you enjoy this chapter, as I really enjoyed making it.

Newt

I felt so happy in this moment of time. Y/n's face was sobbing into my chest, and I felt so much love for her right now. She wasn't sobbing of sadness, she was sobbing onto me, because I was alive. She cared about me, more than I ever imagined she did. And to be honest the feeling was great.

All of today I was on cloud 9. While working I kept Y/n as close to me as possible all day, doing all my tasks with her at my side and throwing smiles at her, to which she happily returned with grins. I then walked over to Y/n who was on her knees, reaching down to pull some weeds up from the ground. I knelt down beside her, rummaging through the ground. I sat down next to her and I crossed my legs, swiveling myself to face her. "Yes?" she said, turning around to face me as well. While bringing her hands up to her face to wipe off some dirt and sweat on her forehead. "I'm sorry" I said sincerely. "What for?" she replied, chuckling at my question and also at my attempts to be serious. "No but really, I'm sorry for going off into the maze like that. I know it really scared you and I didn't mean to do it. We haven't really had time to talk about it so..." She cut me off by placing her finger on my lips and smiling. "Newt, It doesn't matter. All that matters is that you are safe". She then took her hand off my lips and smiled at me again. God she's pretty.

I was walking around the glade, with Y/n at my side. It was my turn to make sure everyone was in bed and asleep tonight and Y/n insisted that I let her join me. I was right about near the map room when we first heard the thunder. As we were in the forest we heard it pretty faintly, but Y/n instantly grabbed onto my hand in fear. I turned my head away for a moment to hide my red face then I turned back and patted Y/n's back. "It's ok Y/n, I'm here don't worry" I told her, turning her around so then I could piggyback her. She jumped and hooked her legs onto my sides, as I grunted and swayed forward a bit with the sudden weight. I started walking out of the forest as more thunder sounded and then the rain started to pour. I heard Y/n whimper and bury her head onto my shoulder, shielding her eyes and ears with her hair. I thought it was very cute but I still ran as fast as you can while piggybacking someone to get her to the warmth. It was pitch black and I couldn't see the difference between the forest and the rest of the glade by now so I had no idea of where I was in the glade. I just kept stumbling until I lost my footing and tripped on something, a coldness seeping up my body advancing upwards very quickly. I felt my hands lose grip of Y/n's legs and I tried to call out her name but when I opened my mouth, water seeped into it, making me choke from the water rushing into my lungs. I thrashed about, twisting and turning my body, trying to reach out for Y/n's body, until I surfaced to the top of the lake I had fallen into. I gasped and shook my head to dry my hair. My neck was strained as I waded through the water, looking for Y/n while calling her name desperately. I reached my hands out and groped the water in the pitch black, until I felt my hands grab onto something. It felt like fabric under my skin so I reached out to grab more of it and pulled until I felt Y/n's waist touching my hand. I reached my other hand out and I pulled her into my arms as quickly as I could. "Y/n, Y/n!" I shouted at her face, bringing her to the edge of the lake. "Y/n are you ok? Can you hear me?" I said, cupping her face in one of my hands and stroking her soft skin. I dragged her soaking wet hair off of her face and tucked it gently behind her ear, softly starting to cry. I put my finger underneath her nose and started quietly muttering things under my breath to her. I waited for a few seconds without a breath and I slowly gave up until I felt a very faint breath of warm air on my hand. I let out the massive breath of air I didn't know I was holding in until that moment and I laughed loudly in relief. I carefully took off her checked shirt and I lifted her back so then I could slip it off her arms. I carefully placed my hands onto her chest, one ontop of eachother. I then took a deep breath and pushed my two hands hard against her chest. Sending her chest to sink downwards then quickly upwards again. I then paused for a moment before repeating that three more times, losing hope a little bit with the forth as I leaned my hands up with her chest and pushed as hard but also as carefully as I could. As her chest rocketed forward again, she took a massive gulp of air, before turning to her side and vomiting the rest of the water out onto the grass next to her. "Y/n!" I cried, tears streaming down my face, and this time I let them fall freely.

 I bent down and wrapped my arms around her waist and legs before hoisting her up into my arms and walking towards her hut. When we got there she was nearly asleep so I lay her onto the bed, taking a fresh pair of sweatpants and underwear to the bed. I then (being the gentleman that I am) nudged her slightly twice. She groaned at me in response and I whispered to her. "I've left you clothes on the edge of the bed. I'm going to get changed in my hut, then I'll come back. Ok?". "Ok" she whispered back to me and her warm breath tickled my ear slightly. I then, quietly but quickly rushed back to my own hut in the pouring rain, hopped into some sweatpants and rushed back to Y/n's hut. I waited outside for a few minutes and then I knocked on her door and yelled "Y/n! Can I come in?!" She didn't answer and I knocked on the door again and said "Y/N, I'm coming in,ok?" I didn't hear anything come from the hut so I pushed open the door, squinting. As soon as I walked in I looked around the hut and I didn't see her near her wardrobe or in her bathroom. I kinda panicked again and started shouting "Y/n, Y/n!" As I said it from the bathroom I heard a faint "Yeah?" coming from back inside the room. I rushed inside to see Y/n tucked up away neatly inside the covers of her bed. I sighed out loudly and smiled at her, walking towards the bed. "You dressed?" I asked her, feeling my eyebrows raise as I said it. "Yep" She said to me as a beautiful wide grin spread on her mouth. She patted the bed next to her and looked at me then the bed with a pleading look. I chuckled at her and jumped on the bed next to her, making her fly up and grab onto my arm. She squealed and then giggled at me and I looked at her in admiration. She locked her beautiful y/e eyes on mine and I felt I could get lost in them forever. I then got up and walked to the other side of the bed, tucking Y/n up neatly in the covers. With a hug and a sweet and simple forehead kiss. I then walked to the door but Y/n grabbed my arm as I was walking out. "Stay?" She asked with puppy eyes. "Fineee" I said, secretly overjoyed that she asked. I lay down next to her, trying to keep a bit of distance between us. She laughed at my silliness and snuggled close to me, while I tried desperately to try and keep my heart rate down. I could hear and feel her short faint breaths on my chest and I let my head drop onto the pillow heavily with happiness.
