I couldn't help but respond as I left, closing the door behind me. In the living room, a very tired looking and dazed Savannah sat up, blanket draped over her knees as she sat up, looking at Luke who just smiled at her he sat at her feet, quietly talking to her.

"9 already?" She asked trying to fix her soft waves of hair.

"Yeah, Belle told me to wake you us. In case your parents were worried." Luke planted both hands on either side of Savv's legs and grinned, "You could always stay the night..."

I could see the cogs spinning inside her head. She wanted to stay over more than anything. "Call your mom." I offered, leaning against the wall.

"Okay." Her voice was quiet. She picked up her phone and touched the screen a few times before bringing it to her ear. "Mom? Yeah I'm fine. Oh, okay cool. Since it's Friday, I didn't know if it was okay if I could maybe stay over at Luke and Michaels?" She nodded, looking at me continuously, "Yeah, she's right here. You wanna talk to her? Okay." Savv tossed her phone at me and I answered,

"Hello?"

"Hi Belle. Here's the thing, I love Luke dearly, but frankly, I'd feel much safer if you stayed with Savannah. Not that I don't trust them both, but I'd like a bit of insurance. I can call your mom and explain, if you want." Mrs. Peters spoke quickly, but happily, as she always did.

"Actually, that'd be fabulous. Thank you, Mrs. Peters. I'll stay here for the night with Savv, then." My heart beat a bit faster at the thought of spending more time with Michael. Anything to keep myself away from Drew. No doubt he'd try and come to my window tonight and try to win me over. He had no idea where I was, and there was some form of beautiful freedom in that realization.

"Thank you darlin'. I can swing by with some clothes and food, if you two want." She offered. I could hear the jingling of car keys, knowing she was grabbing whatever to come out the door right now.

"Honestly, I think Savv would be the one to ask about that. I'll hand you back, but thank you for everything, Mrs. Peters." I said, gratitude rolling off my voice. I didn't have to leave. I could stay in this little bubble of solitude for a little longer.

"Okay, dear. I'll see you in a few, yes?" She confirmed. I agreed and tossed the phone back to Savv.

"Hey mom. Really? Ugh, thank you so so SO much. Yeah, actually, could you grab toothbrushes and stuff. I've got a little bag of overnight stuff in my room. Yeah, the blue one. Uhhh, hair stuff? Straightener, brush, hair ties. Yeah, makeup for tomorrow. Nah, I can just steal stuff from Luke. MOM! Yes, of course. NO DON'T DO THAT." She was getting worked up and I couldn't help but laugh at her. No doubt Mrs. Peters was giving Savannah the same speech my mom gave me. Her tone lowered to almost a whisper, "Yes mom I know what to do. No ma'am. Uhhhh....pizza? Cheetos, those veggie chip things, and the barbeque fritos. Yeah, the twisty ones. And some pepsi-"

"Ahem." I cleared my throat. For some god forsaken reason, Savv preferred Pepsi to Coke-a-Cola. Maybe it was the northern roots, maybe she was just weird.

Her eyes narrowed and she stuck her tongue out at me, "Coke, actually. Okay, see you in 15. Yeah, call her. Love you, momma. Bye." She huffed at me, but returned her attention to Luke. "I can stay."

Luke leaned in and kissed her, "God, I wish I asked you out sooner."

"If I remember, you didn't ask me out at all." She looked at him, a new lightness in her voice.

"Can we just pretend I did? On the first date?" Luke asked, his watery blue eyes pleading."So that would make our three weeks today." Savv pointed out.

"Let's make it a month, for arguments sake." Luke grinned, kissing her again.I rolled my eyes, laughing to myself for their ridiculous relationship. Ridiculous, but adorable. She was really, truly happy. And there was nothing wrong with that.Arms wrapped around my middle, a new source of warmth covering my back.
