"You ready?" Luke asked.
I nodded but walked over to Rian, "Go take your break!"
"Nah, this'll get me brownie points with your sister. Let's show 'em what you've got." His perfect smile radiated through my body, giving me a surge of confidence.
I turned around and walked back to the mic, but was stopped when another member of the crew came running out to give me a black and blue electric guitar. The majority of it was midnight black with some fading to cerulean blue in the center behind the strings. It was a sick looking instrument, and I looked at the back quickly to see a small message, Rock on, kid. Luv: Alex, Jack (your backup boyfriend), Rian, and Zack. I grinned over at them and tested it out quickly before starting the song. Rian did a small drums intro while I began to sing immediately. "Don't blame me death. All the shit in your head, come eat you like a virus for days on end. Watch you decay, and waste away. Who'd you think you'd fool, baby, digging your own grave."
Luke and I started on the guitar, taking two different riffs like we had practiced. it occurred to me while I was playing that this was the song I was supposed to play for Fall jam before we got into a huge fight with Drew and Jack's crew. That night seemed like ages ago. I couldn't reminisce now, I had to prove myself as a serious musician. I remembered the chords like I had just played them yesterday.
You were a walking, talking, corpse at best.
And I swear I couldn't wait to get you off my chest,
And when you asked us why
We couldn't look you in your eyes,
It's hard to find life in something that's already died.
You're out of line,
Buried yourself alive
And expected to be fine.
You can't rewind,
When you're choking on your own dirt begging for your life.
Your bridges are burning
And all the tables are turning.
You started a fire and you're burning up.
I kept my voice strong and slightly angry for the whole song. Luke harmonized with me during the end of each chorus, making the crowd go nuts and a huge smile take over my face for the entire performance. I was happy on the stage. Electricity coursed through my veins but I had never felt more calm or more at home. This is what I was born to do, this is who I was born to be.
BELLE POV
While Savannah was off having the time of her life, I was sitting in my room, crying my eyes out. This wasn't exactly how I thought I'd spend my Friday night. With Michael, I never thought I'd cry again. Obviously, I was wrong.
It was such a small fight, not even a big issue. But our personalities clashed and we started shouting at each other in the middle of eating dinner. One thing led to another, and Michael had been gone for 30 minutes while I sat at his kitchen table, crying. Crying had become such a familiar feeling to me, which was never the intention. I just felt like I was always doing it. Always crying.
Michael had a temper, a temper I wasn't aware of. He was nothing like Drew, but he wasn't levelheaded like Luke either. I had casually mentioned that I went to see Drew the other day, fully intending to tell Michael I was completely over him, but the silver haired moron freaked out. He started insisting that I was still in love with Drew, and I refused to let him go. He yelled, saying how I was cheating on him with someone who was in jail. The dialogue was still fresh in my brain, the echoes sounding throughout the house.
