Chapter 5: wilbur
༻✦༺ ༻✧༺ ༻✦༺
Rebecca walked through the crowd that was encircling her good friend. A little bit of snow was floating down the sky, she sighed and hugged herself.
Despite being all bundled up by Niki, she still felt cold and she hated the cold. It was her nemesis, no matter how beautiful it seemed, she despite the chattering of her teeth or the red nose or shaking of her arms and legs. It was uncomfortable.
But she had to go out, especially when Wilbur arrived. So there she was, in the middle of the cold New York, around some strangers she barely knew, listening to her friend play and sing.
She smiled when he caught sight of her. He winked playfully making her giggle. She had been good friends with the young god prince, he was there when Phil took her in.
She swayed a bit as he continued his set, it was always a trip when he sang. Well he could have turned the crowd crazy and insane if he wanted to but he hadn't done that in years.
His best work was in Paris, the town that danced until their deaths. That was all the doing of Wilbur and his younger brother Tommy. Needless to say Phil and Kristin had given them great punishments in return.
Wilbur had finished and the crowd started to disappear, no longer bound and hypnotized by his music. She walked to him and fixed his beanie.
She chuckled when he blew at her face, a light mist from the cold hitting her face. "You're lucky I came." She reminded him. Wilbur smirked at her as he placed his beloved guitar in its bag and slung over his shoulder.
"You could never miss a show of mine in New York." He reminded her. She shrugged and they walked side by side. "And by the way, New York?" he asked with a sigh.
They stopped at the cross lines as they waited for the lights to go red. Rebecca shrugged, "I like New York." She said.
Wilbur rolled his eyes, "It snows here." He reminded her as he caught a snowflake in his hand. Rebecca nodded, "Yes and that's the only thing making me regret living here." She said.
They walked pass the street, making sure they still had time to not get run over, even though they will just resurrect if they would. "You could have stayed with me-" "UK can be colder." She cut him off.
He scoffed, "Not that much in Brighton." He said. She snickered and flicked his nose, "Stop making me move." She said as they reached the building of her apartment.
"I just don't understand why you seem to like New York. I would have guessed that you would've stayed in sunny LA or I don't know Egypt-" he stopped himself as the lift opened up.
Rebecca sighed as Wilbur apologized, "Don't. I can't even remember why I feel upset about Egypt. I had a great time there. From what I remember." She said leading him in the lift and pushing the button of her floor.
Wilbur sighed and she hummed, "Do you think I lost any memories when I was back there?" she asked. Wilbur sighed and shrugged, "I don't know." He said as they reached her apartment.
She chuckled, "I'm just overthinking it again." She said as she pushed the door open and Wilbur followed right after.
Rebecca greeting Tubbo and Ranboo, Wilbur took off his coat watching her. Unlike Tommy who merely followed their father's punishment, Wilbur was highly against it.
He had watched over his best friend in Cairo 1821 and she was happy. They were happy and his father took away that from her. He frowned and shook his head.
"Wilbur." Techno said coming out of the art room. "Techno. Hey." He said after waving to Tubbo and Ranboo. "I need your help can you come see this?" Techno asked.
Rebecca stood up, "I can-" "No. You stay there and warm up. I just need Wilbur's opinion about something." Techno cut her off. She shrugged and sat back down next to Tubbo as Wilbur followed Techo to the art room.

When Wilbur walked in the art room, Techno was quick to close the door. The taller god huffed and crossed his arms, "No need to close the door Techno."
Wilbur didn't like confined spaces, it made him feel small. Techno knew that but he just waved him off, "You'll survive for a few minutes." He said.
The brunette raised an eyebrow at him, "So what was the reason you had to bring us here? I already know how my best friend locks herself in here whenever she's in her trances." He said with crossed arms.
Techno hummed, "Then you know about this?" he asked pulling the same painting that made him worry. Wilbur looked at it confused at first until he realized what it was, or rather who it was.
"Could it be-" "Who else is a blonde guy she met in Cairo?" Techno cut him off. Wilbur rolled his eyes, "How are you so sure it's for Cairo?" he asked confused.
"Because its the same pile I found this." He said showing the same Cairo landscape he begged Rebecca to give him.
Wilbur frowned and his shoulders sagged, "Could she- does she remember?" he asked. The pink haired god shook his head, "If she did she would have stormed straight to Phil or ran away."
