Chapter 18: nothing

༻✦༺ ༻✧༺ ༻✦༺

Rebecca found herself standing by the many street lights that were around Central Park. She was fiddling with her zipper as she looked up at the sky.

The fog from her mouth as she breathes as she watched the snowflakes fall. It was a bit late but she would rather be out in the cold rather than be at home where she's reminded of the lie and the things she was deprived of.

She can't blame her friends, they were just following Phil's orders but it still hurt her. So she satyed out that day, as the suns et and as the wind became more cold, she stayed outside.

It seemed as though the cold was better. It made her feel something something aside from anger or sadness. Anger towards Phil who took something so precious to her and sadness because she can't remember him.

Him. Those green eyes that sparkled under Cairo's sun. Those blonde locks that framed his face. The freckles that made it seems like he was kissed by the rays of the sun all of his days.

She thought about going in to see a dotor but then she remembered that it was godly magic that took her memories away. If she could she would have banged her head on the wall just to see if she could remember.

Her thoughts were interrupted when she heard walking behind her. Central Park still had people but she just felt the need to turn around.

When she did, she felt her breath hitch. He walked to her with a small smile, hope in his eyes. And when he stopped in front of her, he raised his eyebrows slightly.

"Rebecca?" he asked shakily. Dream hated calling her that, he adored seeing her blush when he would call her-

"I'm sorry." Rebecca said as she frowned. Dream sighed and nodded, even from not saying it, he knew.

The silence was deafening, there was a feeling of pull. Both by Dream and Rebecca, despite her not remembering it. She sighed and looked at the ground, guilt stricken.

Dream saw this and shook his head, placing a hand on her cheek, making her to look at him. He sent her a small smile, "You don't have to apologize." He said.

She shook her head, "But-" "It wasn't your fault." He cut her off. She gulped, "I tried so hard Dream. I tried to fight for me, for you but it just didn't work. He doesn't want me to remember." She whispered.

He gulped and nodded, "I expected that." He whispered. Rebecca furrowed her eyebrows in frustration, "And you're okay with that?" she asked.

He shook his head, "Of course I'm not. But I have a plan." He said. Rebecca looked at her in worry and he chuckled. "You were always a worrier but don't worry. I will do everything that I can to make you remember." He said.

Rebecca stared at him, confused and he chuckled quietly. "You have that look." He said. She hummed and tilted her head, "What look?" she asked. He smiled, "The look of confusion. Like this..." he trailed as he pursed his lips and furrowed his eyebrows jokingly.

She blushed and bit her lip to stop herself from smiling. Dream noticed and he smiled at her, "What?" he asked as he pouted.

This made Rebecca chuckle and shake her head, "Nothing." She said as he raised an eyebrow at her. She sighed sarcastically, "You're cute." She said with a shrug.

This made Dream blush and Rebecca chuckled, "I see why 1821 me liked you." she admitted and nodded. Dream hummed and shrugged, "Eh. What can I do?" he teased and laughed.

"You're a bit of a cocky one are you?" she joked and he smirked, "Only when flirting." "So you're flirting?" she asked with a raised eyebrow and small smirk.

"What do you think?" He asked. She shrugged, "I think..." she trailed and he hummed. Nodding as he motioned for her to continue, "We should make me remember first before we..." she trailed as she motioned to each other.

Dream blushed but chuckled. He nodded and smiled at her, "Yeah." He muttered and stepped back a bit.

They stared at each other, the chatter of other people and the cars passing by. Dream studied her face, she was relaxed, all the previous guilt and worry washed away.

His heart warmed at the thought that he did that. That he can still do that, take away everything that was bad with her to make her feel better. That even if she can't remember him, she was still the same.
