Chapter 7: glimpses

༻✦༺ ༻✧༺ ༻✦༺

Dream walked around New York freely. He didn't feel the choking feeling in his throat or the heavy feeling in his chest.

He looked around and smiled. Despite not being to see her, it was still refreshing to be able to walk around without the feeling to rush back home where Karl would be waiting.

He hadn't been to this part of the city before. He was gawking at the shops he was passing by, it gave him a sense of comfort seeing small business shops. It kind of made him feel like he was back in-

Wait. He looked at the small cafe. He didn't know if he would believe his eyes. He rubbed them a few times but she didn't disappear like in his imagination,

She was there; Rebecca.

She was sitting inside, a hot cup of coffee on the table as she sketched the girl that sat in front of her. The girl giggled and grabbed the sketchbook.

Rebecca smiled and her eyes crinkled. Dream's heart felt like it was gonna burst out anytime soon. Without second thoughts, he gathered himself up and rushed to the door.

But when he did, he crashed into a man. "Ugh! Look where- Omygod my suit!" the man yelled. Dream apologized profusely and tried to clean and help the man.

But like any other man, he was angry and was in a rush. He tried to push Dream away but the blonde was very persistent.

And as Dream and the man argued, he didn't realize or see that the pair of girls had left. So when he finally got to leave the man alone and enter the cafe, they were gone.

His shoulders sagged and his heart fell to the floor. His lips frowned and his eyes dulled. He ran outside to try and see if he could see her but he didn't.

It was like she disappeared from thin air. And with Dream didn't know if he actually saw her or it was just another play of his imagination.

As Niki and Rebecca walked home, the taller girl can't help but replay the situation that was happening outside.

Well it was New York so it wasn't uncommon to see someone get angry at someone that spilled their coffee. But what really got to Becca were the green eyes.

The apologetic and regretful eyes. It was a shade of green that reminded her of the forest. It was the emotional eyes that made her feel it in her bones. The eyes that made her legs wobble.

She didn't realize she was walking to a busy street when Niki pulled her back. "Look where you're going!" a passing taxi driver yelled.

Rebecca's heart hammered in her chest as she blinked. "Becca? You good?" Niki asked patted her back. She gulped and looked at her.

"Can we scrap the rest of the plans?" Rebecca asked in a daze. Niki looked at her worriedly. "Sure." She muttered. "Okay cause I need to go home." She said.

"Becca- wait! Why?" Niki asked as Rebecca started to walk off. The brunette turned and started to walk backwards, "I need to paint something!"
