When she awoke the next morning, Adam had fallen asleep in the rocking chair holding the babies. She figured during the night they must have removed her i.v., since there was a bandage over where it had been injected.
"Hey sleepyhead." Will said, walking in to check on her.
"Oh hey."
"I actually came in to check up on the babies. Did you write down the times you fed them on the feeding schedule we gave you?"
"Yes I did."
"How often did they eat?"
"Every couple of hours, six times total."
"Did you use the pre-made bottles we supplied?"
"Yes. I wasn't sure if I should nurse them right off."
"We'll be happy to provide you with everything you would need to know about it."
"I'm afraid to0. Is it safe?"
"Absolutely. Don't be afraid."
"I think I'll stick with bottle feeding for now."
Will was writing stuff down on the form attached to his clipboard.
"Do you know when I'll be able to go home?"
"You should be able to by later today. We just need to make sure the babies are all set to go home. By the looks of yesterday, nothing was wrong. They're the right weight, size and everything else looked great . One question, did you purchase rear facing car seats?"
"Yes we did. We've had them since the day I found out I was having twins."
"I'll be back to check up on you guys later, okay?"
"Okay. Thank you, Will."
He shut the door quietly when he left, so he wouldn't wake Adam or the babies up. Brayden started getting fussy in his sleep, so Kim picked him up and laid him on her chest. After she changed him, she swaddled him in a blue fuzzy blanket Leslie had bought for them. He kept nodding off and she rubbed his back to soothe him.
"Mommy loves you more than anything. She's waited a very long time for you."
There was a knock on the door and she got up to open it.
"Hey, Sean. How is everything?"
"Everything is great, I just came by to congratulate you and Adam on the twins."
"Thank you very much."
He looked over her shoulder and saw Adam asleep. He laughed. "I see that dad was up all night with the babies?"
"I put him on diaper duty while I slept."
"Well I got these for the babies." He handed her one blue gift bag and one pink one. Inside were little onesies for them, some socks and each got a blanket with their name on it.
"That is so sweet. Thank you Sean." She hugged him.
"You are more than welcome. I'm always happy to help."
Before heading home that day, she suggested stopping by the district so everyone could meet the babies. When her and Adam came in holding two car seats, Trudy stopped them.
"Are those the babies? Oh my gosh they are darling!"
"Well of course they are. Look at how hot their daddy is."
"Ruzek, you are so full of it." She looked over at Kim. "Good luck with your three children. You'll need it."
As she reached on the counter to pick up something Trudy had given her, her ring was noticed.
