Chapter 67

Olivia's flight was delayed, so she didn't arrive until the next morning. Kim was cleaning out her desk as Olivia was walking up the stairs.

"My flight got delayed. Where did you need me?"

"You see that girl sitting over there in the break room?"

"The one with the maroon hair?"

"Go talk to her."

"About what?"

"Just go in there."

She knocked on the door and Erin looked up.

"May I come in?"

"Uh sure."

A lump formed in Olivia's throat.

"Are you okay?"

"I'm fine. I'm just...wow."

"Wow what?"

"The last time I saw you, you were in diapers."

"Do I know you?"

"I would hope you knew me."

"Kim, who is this?"

"This is your mother."

"What are you talking about?"

"Remember the other day when we were talking about your birth mother? I arranged for her to come out here."

"You didn't have to do that."

"I know, but I wanted to."

"Why?"

"I've had my mother all my life, you never knew yours."

Kim left the room so they could be alone.

Erin looked up. "Why didn't you want me?"

"I wanted you and I loved you, I still love you."

"Why did you give me away?"

"I didn't think my living or work environment was the best. I wanted to keep you, but I couldn't."

"Why didn't you have dad take me?"

"When he left, he didn't leave me a number to call him at or anything. I had no choice."

"Why did you give me to Bunny?"

"She was different back then, Erin. That was before her drug and alcohol addiction."

"She treated me like I was scum my whole life. She was never there for me."

"I wanted to be, but she told me she would raise you as her own."

"She was babysitting my daughter the other night, along with Kim's two and Gabby's daughter. They wanted to eat and all she did was light up in the kitchen. After Mikayla flipped out on her, she left and they were all alone."

"Back when we were in school together, she adored children. I wish more than anything that I could've been there for you."

"Why did dad have to leave?"

"His family was out here. He wanted to be with them."

"He left knowing you were pregnant."

"I didn't find out I was pregnant until after he left. If I had found out before, he would've stayed."

"It's kind of late to repair that relationship now. He's married and has two children with her."
