A week has passed since that day. It was a slow day at the district and everyone was just lounging around.
"This is the slowest day I've seen in a long time." Erin sighed
"You said it." Kim said, setting her feet on her desk and leaning back in her seat.
"Wanna play Uno?" Jay asked, holding up a deck of cards.
"You're asking for an ass whooping." Kevin said, looking up from the magazine he was reading.
"Since when do you read Sports Illustrated?"
"You don't know what I do on the weekends!"
Everyone laughed.
"What made you want to read that?"
"There's a lot of smokin' hot girls in it."
"Um excuse me, I'm sitting right here, you know." Nadia said, holding the phone in front of her.
"I keep forgetting every other day you're up here answering phones."
"Yeah no duh."
"Babe, I'm just playing. You know I love you."
"Yeah love you too." She went back to her phone call.
"So how about this game?" Antonio asked, walking in the break room.
"You're going down." Al said as he looked at Kevin.
"Fat chance, Olinsky."
"How about we make this game interesting?" Amber asked as she held up two more decks of cards.
"Oh you are so on." Kim said, giving her the evil "You're going down." smile.
"Whoever gives me a draw four card is going to die." Nadia said, lifting her cards in front of her face.
"How's Adam doing?" Erin asked.
"I told him he's keeping his butt at home until the doctor clears him. It's not going to be for two to three more weeks. I have Steph and Ally babysitting him."
"How are they?"
"Much better. Ally's up and around again, but Steph is lagging a bit."
"That day was pretty scary."
"It really was."
A loud, building rattling crash could be heard. The crash wasn't too far away, but it was hard enough to shake the building. Everyone was tossed from their seats and onto the floor. Kim hit her head, but only got a small bump. She checked to make sure everyone was okay. Camille came running up the stairs, a blood soaked forehead. They rushed out of the break room to attend to her.
"No no, I'm fine."
"What the hell happened?!" Kim asked her.
"I can't be the only one who felt the whole building shake."
"We felt it too."
"What happened?" Al asked, again.
"I have no idea."
"Shouldn't we get down there?!"
"None of you are stepping out of this building until you're suited up. GO!" She hollered at them before disappearing down the stairs. Kim was the last to get ready and once they all were, they got into their cars. They followed the direction the smoke was coming from. When they arrived, everyone at the firehouse was already there. Papers were falling from the sky, smoke and debris were everywhere.
"Good god." Hermann said as he looked up.
There was nothing but gazes of horror and disgust, as the sight they saw was a plane that had crashed into the Ivory Tower.
"Get that building evacuated! NOW!" Boden yelled.
There was a woman trapped on the tenth floor in a window. Joe jumped in the truck and anchored the ladder towards her. Kelly and Matt climbed up it, securing a harness to her. She was frantically screaming and crying.
"We're here to help you. You're safe now."
"T-there's people trapped in there. You have to get them out."
"We are going to try our best." They said, going down the ladder and back onto the ground.
"How bad does it look?" Hank asked, looking at Boden.
"An hour at best before this thing is a pile of rubble."
"We need to hurry."
"There's people trapped on the impact floors. I don't know if we can get to those people."
"We gotta try!"
Boden nodded an ran to get the others. Kim and Erin ran inside, only to find people hurt and groaning in pain. Gabby and Chilli ran inside after them. Jay and Kevin ran inside to aide in helping get people out. Smoke started to fill the floor and they had to run up the stairs.
"We have to get out." Kim said, coughing and having trouble breathing.
"You two go, we got this." Kevin said, trying to rush them out.
"We are not leaving you two in here to die."
"There's people trapped that need saving."
"At least put on some gear." Kim begged them.
Kim fainted from inhalation of the smoke. Sylvie ran to her side and placed a breathing mask on her face. She got her to wake up and then handed her a bottle of water.
"Going in there with no gear on, pregnant none the less. That smoke could've killed you and the baby!"
"I only went on the ground floor and the stairwell. I needed to save those people."
Sylvie looked to her side, Sean and Adam came running.
"What the hell are you doing here?! I told you to stay home!"
"I've been bed ridden the past week!"
"You need to get home."
"No."
"Please tell me you're both fine." Sean asked them.
"Yeah babe, we're fine." Sylvie said, looking over to the entrance of the first floor.
"Where are Gabby and Jessica?"
"They went inside. Peter and Kelly are in there too."
"Amber no!" He yelled when he saw her running in the building.
"My sister works here! I need to go in there and get her!"
He tried to stop her, but she got away from him and ran inside. Peter and Kelly dashed out with a few dozen people. They were covered in debris, but not a scratch on either of them. As they were being passed off to the medics at the scene, another crash could be heard.
"What was that?" Peter asked.
"GET BACK!" Kim screamed as she knocked him out of the way. They both looked up to see the building collapsing.
