It is time for a sober intermission!

I just had my wisdom teeth removed recently, and I'm not supposed to drink or otherwise intoxicate myself for a while. I wanted to write a little bit while I recover, but it feels wrong to continue this fanfiction sober. Still, I'm not just going to sabotage my oral recovery for the sake of continuing this fanfiction. For now, I will avoid alcohol and drugs (except of course the drugs the doctor gave me). I just need to sit back, relax, and let my mouth heal.

But yeah. Rereading through these chapters, it seems like a lot is happening here. I wonder how our heroes will get out of this one. Popee is taking over the world, Papi is kidnapped, Kedamono is unconscious, and the alien guy is going to help y/n. I'm not sure what happened with Paola.

Anyway, thanks for tuning in so far everybody! It takes a special kind of person to willingly click on a Papi x Reader fanfiction and stick with it for this long. I am glad my creative writing classes have been paying off.

Also apparently those Nacho Fries came back. I had some.

(A/N: It's been a week. No longer on antibiotics and stitches have healed. I have already began drinking again).

You and Alien had been working tirelessly training with mechs. You two had thought it'd be cool if you could gather five different mechs and form them together like Voltron or something. Unfortunately, there were only two of you.

"You have come a long ways since our first lesson an unspecified amount of time ago," Alien praised you. "I think we are ready to take on Popee."

"Do we have a plan?" you asked cautiously.

"Fly to him and beat the living hell out of his mech with our mechs," said Alien.

"That sounds as good as any plan," you sighed. "But where exactly is Popee?"

Alien thought for a moment, "That is certainly a good question."

Papi was lying awake in his cell, feeling more alone than he has ever felt before. He was shot by his own son (which certainly wasn't the worst Popee has done to him), and Kedamono has taken him away from the one he loved most. He fantasized about returning to you and your hot body.

Papi thought back on the trip to the carnival. Reminiscing was becoming his favorite pastime, as activities were scarce between these concrete walls and iron bars. He thought of all the fun you both had on your dates. Still, there were so many places he wanted to take you. He wanted to visit every country he could with you. He wanted to take you to every planet in the solar system. He wanted to have adventures so incredible, they would be breaking several scientific laws.

Papi also wasn't opposed to simple dates either. He also wanted to spend a full day doing nothing but cuddling with you. He wanted to hold your hand as you walked down the street at a farmer's market. He wanted to sit with you in the back of Paola and share childhood stories with each other.

Papi did not care what he was doing. As long as you were by his side, he was happy.

Yet, you were not by Papi's side.

Papi was miserable.

"Dammit," a familiar voice muttered from the other side of the concrete wall.

"Kedamono?" Papi called out. "Is that you?"

"Hey, Papi," said Kedamono. "Sorry about kidnapping you and stuff."

"To be honest, I'm just glad to have someone to talk to," said Papi. "My loneliness is killing me and I must confess I still believe when I'm not with y/n, I lose my mind. I wish someone could give me a sign or something."

"Hit me baby one more time!"

"What the hell, Kedamono!" Papi raised his voice perhaps a bit louder than he meant to. He felt a twinge of guilt when he heard a soft whine from Kedamono's side of the wall.

"Sorry, I thought you were doing song lyrics."

"No, I'm sorry," sighed Papi. "I came off harsher than I meant to."

The two of them spent the next moment in an uncomfortable silence. Eventually, Kedamono chose to be the one to break it.

"So how are things going with you-know-who?" Kedamono asked.

"Can I tell you a secret?"

"Of course."

"I am thinking of proposing."

"Papi!" Kedamono's tail wagged at the news. "That's wonderful!"

"It would be," sighed Papi. "Except I can't really do it while I am stuck in here."

"Oh, right," Kedamono sighed. "Well, I don't know how long we will be in here, but I am sure we gotta be free at some point. I mean, it's not like Popee is gonna keep us trapped here forever."

Just outside the prison room, Popee was up against the wall eavesdropping on the conversation. The thought of his father proposing to his friend made Popee sick to his stomach. He knew he had to stop it somehow.
