Mercedes shuffled in her sleep and snuggled deeper into the pillow. She repositioned her arm before realizing she was snuggling a giant blanket stuffed in her arms. Mercedes opened her eyes and sat straight up when she noticed the space next to her was empty. Her eyes wandered the room and never landed on Mordred. Her heart began to race. The larger and more gothic room was closing in on her. She raced to the window and she was sure enough still at Morgana's fortress. Her men walked around in the sunlight. Mercedes quickly turned around frightened. She shook her head and forced herself to take deep breaths. After calming herself down she got dressed. Mercedes let out a heavy sigh as she looked herself over in the mirror. She took it upon herself to roam the fortress and look for Mordred. Morgana's men would occasionally turn their gazes to Mercedes as she quietly walked down the halls. They never said a word to her. After acknowledging her presence they would go on about their business. It seemed as if Morgana's men were living normal lives like that of the knights and guards in Camelot. Mercedes was inside the walls freely roaming around so she was not the slightest concern to Morgana's men. She stopped just before the dark throne room upon hearing voices. She slowly entered the room.
"Yes, I do believe we should make sure he hasn't detailed you two to other kingdoms..."
Morgana averted her gaze behind Mordred and smiled brightly. Mordred instantly turned around and smiled lovingly. He walked toward Mercedes and pulled her close.
"Good morning."
He gently kissed her forehead and frowned slightly.
"I'm sorry... I thought it was best to get an early start with Morgana. You were so beautiful and peaceful sleeping. I couldn't bring myself to wake you."
Mercedes found herself smiling back. Mordred tilted his head with a loving smile.
"Are you hungry? Would you like breakfast?"
Mercedes started to have a funny feeling in her head and she stumbled slightly. Her vision was slightly blurry. Mordred gently held her in place.
"Are you alright, my sweet peach?"
Morgana shook her head.
"She needs breakfast. She looks a little lightheaded. Come on."
Morgana chuckled when she finally noticed Mercedes's empty plate.
"Feeling better?"
Mercedes nodded with a smile. Morgana's eyes traced all the cut marks on Mercedes's collarbones. She smirked.
"Judging by your new... injuries... You had a good night."
Mordred and Mercedes both blushed and looked nervous. Morgana chuckled.
"Don't be embarrassed. It's perfectly fine. You are welcomed down there any time you'd like."
Morgana narrowed her eyes staring at Mercedes. She tilted her head.
"What are you wearing? You look like an overly dainty and undangerous woman. Did Gwen give you that dress?"
Mercedes slowly nodded.
"Yes, I believe this is one of her old dresses she wore before she was the queen..."
Morgana huffed as if she was disgusted and shook her head.
"An old hand-me-down."
Mercedes sat feeling slightly embarrassed. Morgana's eyes lit up. She walked around the table and grabbed Mercedes's hand. Her eyes beamed at Mordred.
"You won't mind if I steal her a bit Mordred, will you?"
Mordred raised his eyebrow curiously. Morgana laughed.
