Mercedes bounced around the castle beside Gwen. The Queen smiled at Mercedes.
"How are you feeling?"
Mercedes couldn't smile any brighter. She then looked slightly annoyed.
"I am so glad to be out of that room! More specifically out of that bed! It wouldn't have been so bad if I could move around freely."
Gwen laughed and started speaking sarcastically.
"Oh, being stuck in your boyfriend's bed, how boring..."
Mercedes laughed.
"Actually, the fear of creating more injuries prevented any kind of physical activities of that nature."
Gwen patted Mercedes on the arm.
"Awe, he was being careful."
Mercedes nodded.
"He gave me a lot of gentle affection though. He wouldn't leave me alone."
Gwen laughed. Mercedes continued talking as they kept walking.
"He would message my leg to make sure I wasn't losing feeling in it. He would rub my arms and my stomach, play with my hair, and give me sweet little neck kisses. He has even been reading a book to me. We're not done with it."
Gwen smiled and let out a small breath.
"Mordred is so sweet."
Mercedes was remembering the past week.
"The other night he even washed my hair for me..."
Mercedes stopped walking. There was something different about Mercedes's gaze. She was in total shock and disbelief. Gwen tilted her head confused. Mercedes finally spoke with tears in her eyes.
"I genuinely don't understand... I wasn't able to put my leg in any water so I hadn't even thought about my hair... Mordred literally moved our table next to the bed and sat a bowl of water on it. He said that even though I couldn't take a bath I might like my hair washed... No one was going to even see my hair but he washed it anyway. He said he wanted me to still have a feeling of being clean and control over something."
Gwen watched Mercedes looking out a window. Mercedes finally turned to face her as she wiped tears off of her cheeks.
"I don't even have to ask him for anything. I never get the chance. These are things he just does willingly before I even think about them. He's always right there helping me. Sometimes he'll come up behind me and brush my hair. Or I'll sit on our bed the second I get home and he'll instantly drop to one knee and take my shoes off. I never ask him to do anything and I know he is always tired too when we get home. He never complains."
Gwen gently held Mercedes's arms and shook her head with a smile.
"That's called being loved. Most people have thought that you two were just young and didn't know true love. Some people don't believe you will last. I on the other hand... believe that you two will always be together. I believe that once you both pass on you will be reunited. There's no way you won't be. I can feel the love, the light, the darkness, and the pain from you both. The big fight you two had. What happened right after it?"
Mercedes wiped more of her tears. Gwen laughed slightly.
"You were so angry at him. You clearly felt so hurt and almost betrayed. Mordred felt like he was embarrassed and put in a bad position. But when you got sick, you came to find Mordred before anyone else and he left the city risking his life in order to find what saved you. That's what love looks like. That's what being one with someone looks like."
