" dwellers of the mist , show me what I desire . Dwellers of the mist , show me what I desire . Dwellers of the mist , show me what I desire "
Yu chanted in front of the old TV in his room , with a firm frown on his face . Many thoughts were filling his head , as he stood there waiting for a result , with the sound of the rain reaching him from behind the window . He remembered what Chie had told him about the urban legend , and her tame interpretation of it in that you see your destined loved one . However , everyone had seen Mayumi Yamano , the TV announcer who got killed the following day . Assuming the urban legend was true , then there's more to it than a simple lover prediction .
" huh ... weird ... " Yu looked at the TV in confusion " so the legend is fake ? Did I make a mistake ? Maybe I chanted way too quickly ... "
However , Yu's patience was rewarded . The small TV shone with yellow light , illuminating a display riddled with static . The display was too distorted to see anything , even as Yu tried hitting the TV to maybe adjust the image . He figured that maybe one of the AV cables was loose , so he tried to support himself with one hand on the TV , while he turns around it to see what the problem was . However , the moment he placed his hand on the TV , he immediately retracted it . The surface of the screen was as delicate as water , and as clear as a still lake . In fact , it rippled against Yu's touch .
Swallowing his fear , Yu pressed one of his hands against the screen , and it went straight through , as if he was placing them in a water bowl . Following the train of curiosity , with admittedly some hesitation , Yu tried to get his head into the TV just to see what was happening on the other side of the TV . However , fear quickly dominated him on the other side . The yellow mist obscured everything on the other side , all he could see was endless yellow , but his ear could hear a lot , a whole lot , of noisy . People's words conflicting , as if their thoughts were clashing , they were so chaotic that Yu couldn't tell what they were saying . However , one voice reached Yu's ears , as if it was only he who was supposed to hear it .
" you shouldn't be here ... "
Immediately black mist began covering the endlessness , and it quickly surrounded Yu as if it was specifically going after him . It enveloped Yu , he felt suffocated , he felt his soul leaving his body . He could feel his eyes sinking , which was incredibly painful . It was so painful , that he began screaming uncontrollably at the top of his lungs . He tried to escape the suffocating smoke , but he couldn't get out of the TV , as if the black smoke was holding him in place , so it could choke him and sap him of his soul .
Then it all ended .
Yui rushed to her cousin's room , as fast and quietly as she could . The sound of his screaming had stopped , but it had lasted long enough for her to freak out . Just what exactly did she do when she followed the steps of that urban legend ? Before she could answer that question , she was already opening the door to her cousin's room , she was so anxious she didn't even knock on the door . In the dark room she could barely see her cousin's face , who was standing a meter away from her .
