Chie Satonaka - Part III

The townsfolk surrounded the burning house , among the desperate parents screaming and crying for anyone to walk into the burning building , their daughter Chie was still in the burning house , but no one was able to enter as the entrance had collapsed . The father was ready to rush into the building himself , but his neighbors were holding him back . They knew he had asthma , so for him walking into a burning building would be suicide .

" dear ... where's Kimiko ? " his wife asked , her tone shaken by terror " she was under my gaze a second ago ! Where did she go ?! "

" wh—what ?! " her father looked around anxiously , before his eyes landed on a little girl jumping through the window into the burning building " Kimiko ! Come back right now !!! "

Kimiko was the only one who could enter the house , as every entrance was barred by the collapsing roof . She entered through the window from the back into a house bathed in flames , the roof was falling , the walls were burning , the ground was falling apart , the air was suffocating . She could feel her consciousness seeping away , but she steeled her resolve . She knew that Chie was still upstairs , and she feared that she was suffocated by the smoke by now .

She found her in her room hiding in the closet , she seemed to have been too panicked to escape through the flames that blocked the way , even as the room was quickly filling up with smoke , and even as Kimiko found her , she refused to move , she was too horrified to leave her place . The only reason she eventually yielded was when she completely lost consciousness because of the thickening smoke . She tried to wake her up , but she wasn't responding . The roof collapsing in front of window in the room startled her , she realized that she didn't have enough time left . She quickly carried the unconscious Chie on her back .

She made her way back to the stairs , but they collapsed before she could descend , leaving the two of them stranded in the upper floor . She could feel the smoke of the burning flames suffocating her , killing her slowly . Her feet trembled , her eyes began watering up .

" Pull yourself together , Kimiko " she reassured herself " Minato escaped this with his sister , there's no reason you can't "

She took few steps , before quickly jumping forward . She jumped from the upper floor all the way down , spraining her ankle . Thankfully Chie was unharmed . She looked at the window from which she came , she could see that part of the roof had collapsed before it , leaving just barely enough space for her to squeeze herself or Chie into the window . She moved toward the window as quickly as her sprained ankle allowed .

Creak !

She quickly picked Chie from her back and had her fall through the window into the outside , into the safety . Kimiko felt a zapping pain in her ankle , the movement and the strain she had to place upon it where too much , and now it was swollen .

Creak ! Crash !!!

The next thing she knew , she was buried under collapsing and burning wood . She could feel the fire against her skin , burning it and causing an alarming pain . She tried to free herself , but her legs and back were completely crushed under the collapsed roof , and the burning wood was just too heavy for her too push , especially when she had collapsed on her waist . Her heart began racing , and her eyes began watering up , she realized that death was imminent .

" m—mama ! Papa ! S—someone .... Cough ! Cough ! Cough ! ... someone get me out of here ! "

The smoke was suffocating her more and more , her consciousness began fading . Her voice grew weaker and weaker even as she tried to scream for her life . Soon her vision went dark completely , and her breathing stilled .

She died under the burning roof ...
