Yukiko had been walking the castle for days by now, her legs were trembling with exhaustion, pulsing with pain, threatening to give out and leave her to fall on the ground, she had to support herself with her hand against the cold wall. She turned around a corner, where she found a golden gate at the end of her path, but what caught her attention the most was a woman in a black kimono, and though she had her back to Yukiko, she could tell that this was indeed her mother, Kaede. With a shaky voice trembling with exhaustion and anxiety, she called out to her. She had been seeing visions of her mother in those hallways for days now, and seeing her standing before her, her fears ramped up until they were through the roof. She ran up to her mother, as fast as her kimono and weary legs allowed, tears streaming down her face, she was calling her mother over and over again, her voice growing more hopefully as she drew closer to her. However, it was when the woman turned to face her, that her steps came to a halt. It was indeed her mother, but the way in which she gazed at her was something Yukiko had never seen, a face that Yukiko did not even think her mother could show. It was wrapped in fury, hatred and contempt, glaring at Yukiko like how one would glare at the Devil. Her brows were crossed, her teeth were bare, and her muscles were tensed.
" M-mom... ? " Yukiko asked, her voice rendered into only a weak gasp " you... You're alive... ? "
" How dare you show your face before me?! How dare you stand in front of me after everything you've done?!! "
" I... I ... Wh-what ? " Yukiko cried " what did I do... ? "
" And you feign ignorance, too ?! The nerve !!! " She replied furiously " you KILLED me, Yukiko! You killed your own mother!!! "
" I... I killed you... ? " Yukiko couldn't believe her eyes nor her ears, she could only shake her head in denial and tearfully say " I... I didn't... Why would I kill my own mother?! You're the world to me, mom, I would never do something so abhorrent... ! "
" Be silenced! Everyone in this kingdom knows you did it! Everyone saw you do it! You're a murder, Yukiko, a tyrannt who killed her own mother! I should never have given birth to such a monster! "
The despair Yukiko felt in that moment was unspeakable, it was as if she could feel the entire sky had fallen over her. Her mother scoffed at the look of disbelief in her eyes, turning her back to her once again and walking through the gate. Yukiko chased after her mother through the gate, stumbling into the foyer. However, there was no trace of the woman in the kimono anywhere, she had disappeared once again. The words that Kaede had uttered were ringing in Yukiko's ears forcefully, she collapsed on her knees in the center of the hall, tears streaming down her cheeks. At that moment, another golden gate opened in the foyer, from which several high school students walked in, among them one student rushed to Yukiko's side, but she couldn't feel anything, her mind had gone completely blank in that moment.
The memory of that last brief meeting between Yukiko and her mother burned within her as if it was melting her heart, and the sight of two entities that had her exact face clash with each other, one of them would hold the pride of the Amagi name more than the Amagi family itself, another who would throw it all away for a selfish cause. They both spoke in her name, they both claimed they were the same as her, yet much to her anger they could not be further away from the truth. She stood to face them with tears streaming from her eyes, the other Persona users watching her in awe, as a blue light enveloped her, piercing the fog that surrounded her. She folded her hand up, and above it a tarot card appeared floating gracefully, she immediately crushed it, which caused the light above her to intensify. From within the light emerged a beautiful masked maiden, dressed in a beautiful dress of which the left half was blue and the other was red, the same coloration applied to her mask and the two majestic wings strapped to her arms, one of which was blue with tiny snowflakes floating around it, the other was red with embers of flame emerging from it, both of which were massive and beautiful.
