" okay ... here goes ... give me strength ... " Yui prayed quietly , then glared at the TV screen , before she began chanting intently " dwellers of the mist, show me what I desire . Dwellers of the mist, show me what I desire . Dwellers of the mist, show me what I desire "
Yellow static began appearing on the TV , indicating the appearance of the Mysterious Mist channel . Yui looked back at the living room and the kitchen , ensuring that she was all alone in there , then she looked back at the screen . She swallowed her fear and , with shaky hands , reached out to the screen .
Yui found herself surrounded by an endless mist , her field of vision was so cloudy she couldn't even see her hand if she looked at it directly . At first , she tried to gingerly make her way through the fog , but soon fear slowed her walking until she stopped completely. She wanted to go back , she wanted to escape that place , but by then she was completely lost in the fog . She didn't know where she came from , or how she would come back . Just as panic was beginning to take hold of her heart , the mist began clearing up . She could see the silhouette of a entity in the fog , but she couldn't tell who that person was ." welcome to the theatre of mist , the puppet show of wonder " a voice seemed to come from the figure in the mist , but Yui couldn't recognize the voice . In fact , it didn't sound human to her at all
" who ... who are you ? "
" I am guidance , and it is my duty to show you the path " the voice spoke , growing more distant as the figure faded into the mist , and as the mist itself cleared up more and more " in this year , you may embark on a journey of self-discovery and growth , and should you fail to reach the conclusion of this journey, your life may be affected in ways you can never imagine "
" are ... are you threatening me ?! " Yui called out to voice , using anger to mask out her fear , but it didn't respond after that " come back ! Don't spout cryptic rubbish and then leave without answers ! "
Yui wanted to chase after the voice , but her foot stepped over a wooden box . She picked it up and examined it, and through the partially cleared mist , she could barely make out the mark of an eye on its wooden lid . Tentatively she opened the box , revealing a pair of glasses in it . Curiosity got the better of her , and she wore the glasses . To her surprise , the mist cleared up almost like it never existed , leaving only faint remnants in the distance . When she managed to wrap her mind around the absurdity of having mere glasses granting the ability to see through the fog , she realized the place she was in was unlike anything she had ever seen . It was a red path that stretched through an endless sea of white , separated by square shaped walls here and there . The place was as confusing as a labyrinth, and even with the glasses she couldn't tell where she came from or how she would come back .
She steeled her resolve and moved forward , repeating to herself that the moment she would start crying is the moment her resolve would be lost , a habit of hers to keep her resolution firm whenever she felt scared , which admittedly rarely worked. She eventually arrived at one of the square walls , but she could feel a cold gust of air passing through it , as well as footsteps . When she placed her on the wall, it spiraled open from the inside outwardly, revealing an open hallway . Inside the hall , there was another person . Though it was difficult to tell for sure , as he had his back to her , she recognized the uniform and the haircut easily .
