He found himself in the very situation he dreaded . His uncle's glare was averted from him to the note and then back at him , his cousin stared at both him and her father with confusion and fear . His uncle finally crunched the note furiously before glaring at him .
" alright , Yu ! I've been putting up with your suspicious behavior for the longest time ! I am a detective and it is my job to capture murders , yet I tried to tolerate incident of suspicious behavior that involved you , and now I see a death threat in my own house !!! "
" daddy ! " the little girl defensively exclaimed " big bro did nothing wrong ! Don't treat him like he's the bad—! "
" Don't interfere ! " the man yelled at his daughter furiously " go to your room , Nanako ! "
" b—but ... ! Big bro ... cough ! Big bro is ... cough ! Cough ! " the girl couldn't continue her objection as she was stopped by sobbing and a coughing fit
" Nanako " the boy knelt kindly by his little cousin " you're still sick , go back to your room and rest , okay ? "
" b—but ... "
" don't worry , your father wants the truth , and the truth is I'm not a bad guy , and I'll make him see it " he gave her a reassuring smile " I'm more worried about your cold worsening so don't let that happen , okay ? "
" r—right ... "
The little cousin reluctantly agreed and left the room . The boy stood and looked into his uncle's angry eyes firmly , he made up his mind and he knew exactly what to say . This conversation was long overdue ...
" uncle , what I'm about to tell you is a story you've never heard of in your entire life , yet I swear it's absolutely true . Everything that I'm about to say to you is as real as me standing before you . Will you listen ? " he looked at his uncle's eyes firmly , with nothing but absolute determination filling his heart
" I'm listening ... go on ... " his uncle said , sounding less ready than he claimed .
" everything began when I came to this town and started living here ... seven months ago ... "
Seven months ago ....The station in Tokyo was crowded with travelers coming to and from the big city , from lone adults staring at the screen of scheduled departures , parents trying to calm their crying children , a family saying goodbye to a person leaving the city , and many more . Tokyo was a city bursting with life and events . In this suffocating crowd , it almost made a person feel insignificant , like he was nothing but a number in the big , crowded city .
Among the seemingly incalculable people in the station , walked a grey-haired student , dragging a suitcase behind him . He made his way to one of the many screens that were displaying the schedule for departure , but he couldn't see the time for his trip , for an ad suddenly appeared on the TV instead . It was a lively girl wearing a swimsuit in what looked like a beach , the girl was holding a drink and smiling to the camera in what seemed to be a sponsored commercial .
