Eren's P.O.V:

Levi told Mikasa and I not to talk to Arthur. I was curious as to why I wasn't allowed to talk to him, and I was even more curious about what happened between the two in the past.

So we sat in the car, covered in a never-ending silence nobody wanted to break. Mikasa didn't mind that Arthur would sit next to her, and Arthur didn't say anything at all. His cold voice was still echoing through my head since last night.

"After what you did to me."

Why did he say that? Did Levi do something bad to him? I was so confused. Levi was a good person, how could he do something to someone to the point where they would want to hurt him?

I yawned loudly and rested my head against the seat. Levi glanced over at me. His arm twitched before he looked back at the road. I raised an eyebrow but didn't say anything.

"You can go to sleep if you want," Levi said softly. "Sorry we only got about four hours of sleep."

My eyes closed and I smiled. "It's all right, Levi."

~~~
I woke to a prodding in my shoulder. Gentle at first, before it became close to painful. "Eren. Wake up, please."
Rubbing my heavy eyes, I stared at Levi. Confused, groggy, and disheveled, I asked, "Can we get a pizza?"
An unfamiliar laugh rung through the car, and I assumed it was Arthur's. For such a scary, stone-hearted man, his laughter was warm and child-like.
"No. We're at Dairy Queen. What do you want?" Levi asked, an amused smile tugging at the corners of his mouth.
"Oh." My face grew warm. "Um...a hot fudge sundae would be nice."
"Eren. We're here for food, not dessert."
I rolled my eyes. "Okay, fine. Add some fries."
Levi shook his head but ordered anyway. I assumed he already asked Arthur and Mikasa what they wanted. If he asked Arthur, anyway.
Leaning back into the seat, I took a deep breath and stared out the windshield. There was the loveliest sunset I had ever seen gracing the sky. Shades of pink tinted the clouds and a bright, orange, yellow and red background slowly cascading behind them made it a priceless sight.
I turned around to point it out to Mikasa, but I was met with Arthur's gaze. Growing nervous, I decided to point it out to him instead. "Do you see that too?" I asked.
He nodded. "It looks cool. I used to like watching the sunrise and sunset as a kid, but I like listening to the rain now."
Befuddled he would choose a common rainstorm over a rare, beautiful setting of the sun, I took the opportunity of grabbing food from Levi to continue staring at it. But it wasn't as gorgeous as it previously was.
"Oh," I said sadly. "It's gone."
Levi looked towards the direction I was staring at. "It looks pretty."
"Not as much as it was," I sighed bitterly. Even Levi didn't see how much beauty the sky had in those few moments, and the only person I could show it to was Arthur. I didn't even like him.
"Nothing Gold Can Stay," Arthur said.
"Huh?" I was confused. What did that mean?
"It's a poem by Robert Frost. Don't worry about it, kid."
The tips of my ears grew hot. It was okay when Levi called me a 'kid' but when Arthur did it, I just got mad. Levi seemed to notice and changed the subject.
