Here it is. The actual last chapter. Wow, my middle school self (when I started writing this story) is sobbing, while my college self (now) is having back pain from hunching over a laptop so much.
Eren's P.O.V:
Apparently this whole time Mikasa and Xavier had something going on! I wanted to be mad that neither of them said anything, but I was too focused on the fact that Levi was serious about taking me to live with him in Washington.
I didn't stop thinking about it, and wasn't going to stop thinking about it until we got there.
"So, um, when are we leaving?" I asked while Levi was putting his new cat's stuff in my house.
Levi stretched, his shirt riding up to reveal some skin. I had to fight to keep my eyes from wandering. "We'll be leaving sometime early tomorrow, if that's okay with you? I've already bought the home we'll be living at."
"That's really short notice!" I cried.
Levi hummed. "If you want, we can go later?"
"No, no, we can go tomorrow if you want. I am a bit curious, though. Why'd you pick Washington?"
Levi shrugged, saying, "I like the climate there. It's shitty here."
"Reasonable," I responded.
Petra came up to me and rubbed her head against my ankles. As she did, some of her hair came loose and floated around; visible in the sunshine that was leaking through the windows.
"Ew," Levi remarked. "How do I make her stop doing that?"
"Shedding?"
"Yea."
"You don't. You can brush her and make the loose fur come out in a cleaner way."
The raven seemed to calculate how he'd go about it before shrugging his shoulders and crouching to pet her. "Make sure you're ready by tomorrow morning. I'm going to crash here for tonight," he said while stroking the tabby.
"Alright, thanks for asking," I teased.
It was easy to assume that Levi already had everything ready. He told me that he had to keep paying for the apartment until the lease was up, but that it didn't matter because he had enough savings to last a few lifetimes. Apparently this wasn't the only apartment he wasn't living in but was still paying for. The whole situation sounded dumb.
"Ah, wait, Levi," I called out to the raven. He looked up questioningly. "How much stuff should I bring?"
"Anything that can't be bought."
I nodded. That's what I expected him to say, but I wasn't sure.
Mikasa and Xavier came up to us, still hand-in-hand. "Are you sure you want to move across the country?" Mikasa began, sounding like she was holding back tears.
"My ex-gang moved there, too. Apparently it's nice," Levi said, still petting Petra. The cat was beginning to look annoyed at the excessive affection.
Xavier laughed loudly. "You say that so casually! As if everyone gets in a gang!"
Levi looked a bit annoyed. "We were just a bunch of homeless teenagers who wanted a family. We were only considered a gang because we did some ethically questionable things as a group, but in reality we were just a bunch of lost kids who fought with other groups of equally lost kids."
Xavier pursed his lips, looking a bit embarrassed. Levi allowed Petra to finally trot away, and he stood up. He was grasping a handful of cat fur, which he threw into the garbage.
