Eren's P.O.V:
I lie in bed, waiting for the sleep that refused to overtake me. Everyone else was asleep. Xavier was snoring softly on the floor, and Arthur and Mikasa hit their beds right when they got in the hotel room. Levi and I played a card game he referred to as Golf until he fell asleep, which left me the only one awake.
My hands folded themselves behind my head as another sigh escaped my lips. Tonight was great. After Levi's performance—which I watched on stage the entire time—I was able to meet people who loved Levi and his music as much as I did. It was definitely a unique experience, since some of them knew who I was and what I did. Some of them were clueless, while others were ecstatic and wouldn't shut up about it. Because of that, I gave a good number of hugs to people.
Tomorrow would be another day of excitement. I could hardly wait.
~~~
The morning was surprising. I didn't expect to fall asleep, and I really didn't expect to wake up so early.
A little alarm clock beside the bed, in bold green letters, stated the time: 7:28 AM.
Levi's arm hung lazily over my chest while his other rested underneath his sleeping body. I quietly slid out of bed to grab my phone, but realized that I had forgotten where I put it last.
I opened the door to the bedroom, assuming I must have left it lying around when I came in to grab a couple of Arthur's blank papers to write down scores last night. I spotted it, but I also found Arthur sitting on a chair from the dining room area hunched over the small desk in the room. He had a pencil in hand, but it was not moving, only hovering over the paper he seemed to be writing on. His head turned when the door creaked as I opened it wider.
"What do you want," he sighed. It didn't sound like a question, more like a statement. He looked tired.
"I was looking for my phone. Sorry to interrupt."
He nodded and returned to the position I found him in. Curiously, I trudged over to his desk and leaned closer to see what he had written. The page was blank.
He took a deep breath. "This is supposed to be the end," he explained, "but I can't come up with anything."
I shrugged. "Just make some sort of happy ending or something..."
Arthur turned away from his paper quickly, glaring at me.
"Happy endings are the worst," he ranted. "I hate them because they're always the same... Nothing original..."
"But wouldn't that make sad endings the same, then?"
He furrowed his eyebrows. "Not at all. I mean...they can end in a character dying, or something bad happens, or even something that the reader didn't expect to happen and they become bitter about it."
I smiled. "Then happy endings can happen differently, too. For instance, the character can accomplish something good, or maybe fall in love... How would they all be the same?"
"Well..." Arthur paused. "Happy endings are too predictable. And that's really boring."
I nodded, agreeing without a doubt. "I'm in no position to tell you what the ending should be, but if you want my opinion, I believe a bitter-sweet ending would suit what I've read so far."
The brunet hummed, as if registering what I said. "That sounds good. You should..." He hesitated. "You should proof-read some more of my papers. Y'know, look for spelling or grammatical errors."
"Really?"
Arthur started to organize the clutter on the desk before pulling out a few sheets of paper and handing them to me. "Don't forget your phone," he reminded.
