My eyes widened and I choked on my food as I started coughing uncontrollably. Jay panicked as he handed me a bottle of water in a hurry.

“I'm so sorry. I just couldn't seem to keep it to myself anymore because I really like you, a lot,” he spoke, making me cough more.

After fighting for my life for a good whole minute, I finally managed to stop coughing and speak to him, “I don't have any words, Jay. Are you sure?”

His eyes went everywhere except for my eyes, his face getting bright red, “Well, you're my type...older than me, you have the same mindset as me and we hit off pretty good from the beginning.”

I pressed my lips together. Holy crap, I was right all along. I scratched my head as I looked around in confusion, “I'm not even sure. Don't you think it would be just bothersome if we...date, now?”

“Oh, if you want to focus on your studies first, then no problem. I'll wait for you,” he spoke, making me flustered even more.

It wasn't that I didn't like him. I also kind of liked him as much as he did but I was just creeped out by the thought of me dating someone as attractive as Jay.

I grimaced, “Yeah. If that's okay with you.”

“I'm completely okay with it,” he nodded. Gosh, he's dedicated to be my boyfriend. Oh my fucking God, what is this?

I randomly squealed as soon as I made sure that no one was there with me in the girl's restroom.

I laughed at myself like an idiot as I held onto my cheeks. Did I do the right thing by telling him that I thought it was too early? Should I have said yes then and there? If I did would we start acting all shy and blushy wushy?

I patted my cheeks and came back to reality. Right as I was about to go and do my business, a girl who seemed to be from tenth grade barged in the restroom as she panted.

I reluctantly leaned to the side to see what was up. My eyes widened when I saw her mouth filled with red liquid that seemed to look like blood. Please tell me this is just a prank or something.

I quietly and slowly backed away, trying to make my way out of there but it only took one step to the door for the girl to turn her head.

“Uh...hi,” I smiled sheepishly.

The girl blankly stared, “I'm hungry.”

I slightly raised my brows as I pressed my lips together. I would never had made it to the door to leave even if I ran because I knew how fast they were.

“Please don't hurt me,” I spoke as I started trembling out of fear. She looked horrendous. I discreetly reached into my pocket to hold onto the pepper spray.

She didn't say any word as she paced up towards me. I shut my eyes closed as I yanked out the spray and was about to spray it when Jake popped out of nowhere and pushed the girl away, making her fall on the ground.

“Don't even lay a single finger on her if you don't want to die,” he spoke through gritted teeth.

The girl chuckled as she looked down at the ground, her knees and hands on the floor, “I can't die.” She looked up to meet with Jake's eyes. She tilted her head, “You should be siding with me instead, why are you being defensive?”

Jake sneered, “I'm not like you.”

The door opened and some of the teachers and a few cops rushed in and held the girl captive. She attempted to fight back but the shot that the school nurse had given her slowly made her numb and helpless.

Jake turned to me as the carried the girl away, “Are you alright? Did she hurt you? You look pale.”

“I-I'm alright, just a little traumatised, that's it,” I nodded vigorously.

He glanced down at my hand to see the pepper spray. I instantly kept it back in my blazer pocket. He gulped before looking up to meet with my eyes, “Let's go back to class, okay?”

He held onto my hand and gently pulled me out from there, some of the teachers asking if we were okay while we were on our way to our classroom.

I looked down at our intertwined hands as I felt my cheeks getting warmer and warmer. I slightly shook my head and attempted to speak up, “What happened to her?”

“She got caught attacking one of her friends in the cafeteria and she ran away before the teachers could catch her. Fortunately, I was around there when it happened so I directly ran after her while the others were being cowards or calling 119. I kind of lost her but my guts were telling me that she'd be in the restroom. And you were there too,” he spoke as he continued to drag me, glancing at me a bit when he said ‘you’.

“Ah...I see. That was brave of you to run after her even after knowing that she got the same problem as the other people out there,” I chuckled.

“I just...it was a hero complex,” I could sense him grinning although I could only see the back of his head. I gently smiled.

We only needed to take another turn to reach our classroom when Jay appeared with an anxious look on his face. He looked relieved after seeing me with Jake.

“Emma! Thank goodness, you're alright,” he exclaimed and engulfed me in a brief hug, catching me off guard.

“Yeah, I guess I am. Thanks to Jake.”

“I just heard about the chaos and I remembered you left for the restroom so I had to rush out from the classroom.”

“Oh, you shouldn't have worried about me that much. You know I can take care of myself when it comes to situation like those,” I smiled.

“And yet you asked me if I could walk you home yesterday,” Jay snickered before looking down to see my hand in contact with Jake's.

He eventually held my other hand and looked at me, “Let's go.”

I was baffled since Jake was still tightly holding onto my right hand while Jay held my left hand and attempted me to drag me away from there but to his dismay because Jake wouldn't let go.

My face grew bright red when Jay coldly stared at Jake, who was looking at the latter with no expression written on his face. What the hell is up with today?
