“Are you sure we can trust this "Jake" guy?” Chris questioned.

“Of course, didn't you see him yesterday?” I scoffed while putting on my gloss.

“Wait, he was the one with you yesterday?”

“Yeah, who else?”

“Oh, then no wonder, he's really likable.”

I rolled my eyes and organised my table as I got ready to leave.

Chris stared for a moment, “But can he save you from any possible danger?”

I sighed, “Please, we're not going to stay outdoors for long. Even if we did, we'll be somewhere safe. Don't think too much about it.”

“You know that I'm paranoid and worried about you. I just can't sit here peacefully while you're out there in the open where you could get injured,” he folded his arms.

“I promise you, Jake will never allow such thing to happen to me. He was the one who previously saved me from the infected girl in school, remember?”

“So he was the one...” he remained silent, “Okay, but please be aware of your surroundings.”

“Of course, of course,” I spoke in a rush as I dashed to the front door to leave, “See you in a few hours, bye.”

I shut the door before he could say another thing. I released a breath and rummaged into my sling bag while making my way to the elevator. I forgot the pepper spray.

I paused midway and turned back. I never use it anyway so it's okay. I turned on my heels with a shrug and walked into the elevator. I took out my phone as other people entered as well.

I'm on my way.’ I sent a text to Jake and waited a couple of seconds to see if he'd reply at once, which he didn't. I turned off my phone and waited for the elevator to reach the ground floor.

I was simply walking on the sidewalk when someone slightly nudged on my right shoulder and started walking beside me.

I looked at the person in confusion and saw that he was wearing a mask. “Uhm, do I know you?” I asked.

He briefly made eye contact with me before placing both his hands on my left shoulder and mouth to keep me from making a noise as he lowly spoke, “I told you you would regret it, didn't I?”

With that, it took him only a second to change my route and take me to the eerie alleyway where I had met him for the first time. I broke free from his grasp at once and turned to look at him from a safe distance.

Heeseung coolly took off his mask and looked at me with an unreadable expression written on his face, “I warned you,” he started.

I gulped as I summed up the courage to speak, “Are you going to kill me for it?”

“You figured it out. You know that there's a reason why I'm still considered as either missing or dead till today—”

“You can't, it was Sunoo. He knew about you way before I even heard about you,” I defended myself.

“You might want to let me finish my sentences first,” he sighed and I nervously waited for him to start speaking.

“Okay. It's true that I get rid of anyone who plans on spreading news about my current whereabouts, but, I might excuse you this time because it was Sunoo,” he folded his arms.

I released a breath, relieved, “Thank you.”

“Honey, I said "might".”

I widened my eyes, “What?”
