“I insist. I won't feel good if I left you alone when your condition is like this,” Jay stood firm, not letting me reach the apartment alone.
“I'm feeling really okay now but if you insist, I won't bother stopping you,” I spoke and walked into the elevator.
We both remained silent while we were being taken up to my floor. I looked at him from the corner of my eye. He had dressed up so well and yet there he was, making sure that I safely reached home when he was supposed to be with someone else.
“I feel bad, I'm practically keeping you busy for no reason,” I guiltily released a laugh.
“Don't be, I'm not urgent or anything. I'm sure Jungwon will understand.”
I merely smiled at him, still feeling a tad bit bad, “What were you two planning to do anyway?”
“Nothing interesting to be exact. We were both free and it's only the first week of school so we just decided to meet up.”
“Ah...I'm quite confused because you're dressed so well, like, you're about to go on a blind date,” I cackled.
He was visibly out of ideas on how to respond when the opening of the elevator door saved him.
“I'll be okay on my own from here—” I spoke as I walked out from there, only for him to follow behind. I laughed awkwardly, “You can go back down now, the next door is my apartment.”
“It's not too late for me to ditch Jungwon and be with you instead, right?” He grinned and locked his eyes with mine.
My brain had thought of several ways I could reply him with but none of them decided to come out from my mouth. He tilted his head a bit upon waiting me for a few seconds to say something.
“Okay,” I uttered and turned around, cringing. Chris is so going to interrogate me for a long time for this one. I paced up to the door and opened it, letting him in behind me.
Chris instantly poked his head out from his room after hearing the front door open, “You're already back? With a...friend?”
“Something came up. Meet Jay! Jay, say hi,” I smiled as I pushed Jay upfront.
“Hi...”
“Oh, hello,” Chris took a good look at him before returning to his room, “Hold on a minute, I'll be right back with you two.”
Jay immediately turned on his heels to face me with his eyes widened and whispered, “You didn't tell me we weren't going to be alone.”
I folded my arms, raising a brow, “Alone? What's so bad about my cousin being here with us?”
“I-I mean, you didn't tell me the cousin you're living with is a dude. Now I feel all nervous.”
I chuckled, “I can't see any reason why you should be nervous. You're not interviewing for a job here.”
“It's more like an interview to get an approval as your boyfriend from your cousin,” he sighed.
I scoffed and nudged on his abdomen with my elbow, “You better stop talking like that if you really want to be approved by him.”
He slightly smirked while holding onto the spot I had hit, “Yes, boss.”
“Come on, I actually have a few things to show you,” I spoke and made my way into my room.
“Uhm...is that a permission to enter your room?” He stood right next to the door.
“You better come in here fast if you don't want me to make you stand there the whole time. Close the door too, please.”
