❌I know hospitals and stuff can make people uneasy, so TW just in case❌
Jorgeous's POV:
----It was 2am. Visiting hours were probably over and I was alone in the waiting room. Orion's family had been there with me most of the day, but had left about two hours ago and would be back when they could be. They seemed like good people, I wish I had met them in different circumstances.
My friends wouldn't be here for another couple hours. So I was stuck alone with my thoughts. Every time I drifted off I would see Orion laying limp in the street once more, and every time I would jump back awake. I don't think I had any tears left, but they still somehow continued to fall.
I sniffled, snuggling deeper into Orion's hoodie. It brought some comfort at least, but I would do anything to really be in her arms.
I was convinced that this was all my fault. I had the nightmare for weeks leading up to this. I should've known better. I shouldn't have asked Orion to come over. It was my fault I probably lost her forever.
I hated how quiet it was here. It made me feel more alone than I already did. I wrapped my arms around myself, closing my eyes once more until I heard a soft voice.
"Dear? Are you here for Orion Story?"
My eyes snapped open immediately. I looked up at the nurse who stood in the doorway and quickly nodded. "Y-Yes. Is she awake? Is she okay?"
The nurse looked down at her clipboard. "She isn't awake." She said, and my heart sank. "But she's breathing on her own now, and her heart rate is slow but it's steady. Follow me." She turned to lead me down the corridor, and I stumbled after her.
"She isn't completely out of the woods yet. She won't be until she wakes up." The nurse continued, and I listened to her like my life depended on it. "But we're keeping a close eye on her."
I looked down at my hands, scared to see the condition she was in. "Is she going to be able to hear me at least?"
The nurse looked unsure. "She might, it's hard to tell right now." She stopped in front of the door and I felt my heartbeat quicken. I stepped inside when she opened it for me, closing my eyes to brace myself before looking over at the hospital bed.
Whatever was left of my heart at this point completely shattered.
I had never seen Orion look so small. Her eyes were closed, a large bruise lining the side of her face that was littered with different cuts from glass. A line of stitches ran down the opposite side of her face across her temple. Her hair had been pulled back, allowing me to see the rough marks the seatbelt had left on her.
"My baby..." I whimpered out and teared up again, shakily walking over to the side of the bed. The heart monitor was beeping slowly. I didn't like it. She was propped up slightly, her left arm in a cast and laying limply at her side. "My poor baby..."
"She has three fractured ribs." The nurse explained. I could tell she was trying not to scare me with all the information. "Her arm is in pretty bad shape, it must've been on the side she was hit on. But overall, she's very lucky it's nothing worse."
I slowly nodded, not even bothering to dry my tears anymore. "Can I...lay next to her at least? She doesn't like sleeping alone."
The nurse looked unsure, but could probably see how desperate I was. "Just be careful with the IV bag." She said hesitantly. "It's currently relieving the pain in her chest. Don't lean against her left side, those are where the fractures are."
"Thank you..." I whispered softly, grabbing one of the napkins in the room to take off the rest of Orion's messed up makeup. I wiped off the rest of her already smeared lipstick, waiting until the nurse left the room to climb onto the bed with her.
