Beomgyu swirled his tongue around the cherry flavor heart-shaped lollipop that his boyfriend, Yeonjun, had left him in his locker yesterday afternoon. Yeonjun didn't show up to school today so Beomgyu had figured that this must be his way to apologize to him for not being here since Yeonjun has a hard time with words sometimes.
It's okay though because today was Friday, every sixteen-year old's favorite day of the week, and the school day was finally over. Now the couple can spend the entire weekend together.
Once Beomgyu got on the bus, he pulled out his cellphone and dialed his boyfriend's number. Instead of being answered with a typical cheery greeting, the call went straight to voicemail.
Beomgyu felt a little uneasy but tried to push away any negative thoughts that began to form. He just misses him, and he was sure there was a reasonable explanation for this.
"His phone is probably dead," Beomgyu muttered to himself as he stared at the phone screen, hoping for a call back, "That has to be it."
Once he got to his house, he tried calling one more time, but to no avail. No matter how hard he tried he just could not get rid of this uneasy feeling that was building up inside of him.
Not wasting anymore time he threw his bag down and took his bike to Yeonjun's house.
The boys have been dating for a little over a year now and to say Beomgyu was in love was an understatement. Nobody has ever made him feel the way Yeonjun did and Yeonjun said the same thing about him. They spent so much time together and they know each other like the back of their hands, so for Yeonjun to be sending him straight to voicemail or letting his phone die worries Beomgyu. It is very out of character for him.
Luckily for the black-haired boy, Yeonjun's house was not too far from his own and once he arrived, he knocked on the door. It took a few seconds but eventually a teary-eyed Mrs. Choi answered the door.
Beomgyu contemplated asking her what was wrong but did not want to pry into her business, "Is Yeonjun home?" Those three words alone made Mrs. Choi break and she couldn't stop herself from crying and Beomgyu instantly felt guilty, "I'm sorry I didn't mean to-"
"It's okay Gyu," she waved him off with a small smile on her face, "My baby is just growing up so fast and I miss him already."
"You miss him?" Beomgyu looked at the woman confused, "Is he not here?"
"Did he not tell you?" She looked back at him just as confused, "He scored an acting job in Seoul and left this morning."
Beomgyu felt his whole-body tense and accidentally bit down a bit too hard on his lollipop, causing the heart shaped candy to break. Why didn't Yeonjun say anything to him? He took out his phone and dialed his number one more time, but just like the last two times it went straight to voicemail.
Beomgyu did the next best thing he could think of and texted him, but none of his messages would go through. He gritted his teeth, "What is going on?"
Speaking of the devil, Mr. Choi came to the door on the phone with no other than Choi Yeonjun himself. "What's going on?" the man asked, sensing the obvious tension.
"Yeonjun sweetie," Mrs. Choi was the first to speak up, "Where are you?"
"Just arrived at Seoul," Yeonjun said in a tone so happy it made Beomgyu feel sick.
"That's good, but, umm, Beomgyu is looking for you. Did you not tell him about this?" Yeonjun didn't respond. After a few seconds Mrs. Choi called out his name, asking for an answer.
"We broke up already," Yeonjun stated with no certain emotion in his voice.
Beomgyu felt like his entire world just stopped. He slowly shook his head, "Th-th- it's not-"
