𝙍𝙊𝙐𝙉𝘿 𝙁𝙊𝙐𝙍: 𝘽𝙐𝙈𝙋𝙔 𝙍𝙊𝘼𝘿
JUNGKOOK WAS STANDING in front of his condo by 4:58. He figured it was better to be early than risk running extra miles. Andrea seemed pretty serious about her threat and he wasn't willing to test her patience just yet. He needed to get a good assessment of how easily she could be brought to anger. Jungkook got up at 3:30, took his shower, fed and let Bam out to do his business and run around for a bit before kissing his head goodbye and leaving to meet up with Andrea once again.
Andrea wasn't late either. He spotted her leaning against a 2021 Lexus SUV, watching the time to make sure he wasn't late by even a minute. She would kick his ass up and down the block or just double his workout regimen. Either way, late or early, she would give him Hell.
"Just in time too. A shame, I was hoping to at least add one more mile to your run." Andrea sighed, disappointed that her hopes were ruined as Jungkook came to stand in front of her. She looked just as beautiful as she did the day before, even staring at him with firm, fierce eyes. Andrea wasn't here to be his best friend, to coddle him and hold his hand. She was here to ensure he was where he needed to be for this fight.
The corners of Jungkook's lips curled upwards, revealing the charming craters in his cheeks, not as defined as Namjoon's but still apparent. "Well, I'm sorry to disappoint." His voice was bitter, passive-aggressive even. It's fine, he didn't have to like her. Andrea wasn't on her knees begging for him to. But he'll thank her by the end of this.
Andrea stood up with a sigh but said nothing more to Jungkook as she pulled open the door to her car and got inside. Confused, Jungkook began walking around the front of the car to get inside with her. She was quick to lock the doors before he could get in and rolled down the window to talk to him. "Uh-uh. You're running, I'm driving. This isn't my training." She exercised on her own time and wasn't sure she could survive running 7 miles with her insufferable trainee by her side. Plus, it was freezing outside.
Jungkook remembered what Namjoon told him, to behave because she was his last hopeful chance of winning back his title. He had to trust her, even if it mean physically wearing himself out while she got to ride around comfortably in her car. 7 miles, a run he hasn't done since the beginning of his career.
Jungkook started with his normal morning stretches while Andrea started up her car. His heated breath met the frigid air around him and formed into thick clouds in front of him. It blocks his vision only briefly while he warms up. For a moment, he thinks about standing behind her car in front of the exhaust pipe where smoke billows.
Andrea went first, pulling away from the curve and leading him on his new path to the gym. Jungkook followed along on the sidewalk in a light jog. He could only hope to keep her within his line of sight in the busy Chicago traffic. Things moved fast here, maybe not as fast as New York or LA, but it would be easy to lose her. Andrea had sent him a map of the path he would be taking the night before, but still. He'd rather not lose sight of her shiny silver Lexus or he'd feel like a kid who lost his mother in the maze of aisles in the grocery store.
