CHRISTMAS DAY AND JUNGKOOK STOOD ON the doorstep of Andrea's mother's house. Andrea told him he didn't need to bring any gifts but that simply wouldn't do. Koreans never show up without a gift. It's considered impolite. Plus, it's Christmas, how can he just show up at someone's house without a gift? But he had absolutely no idea what to get so he took the safe route, an expensive bottle of red wine. Everyone loved red wine, right?
Hair was brushed back out of his face, but he continued to run his fingers through his hair while waiting for someone to answer the door. Was he too dressed up? He was wearing a black, button-down shirt tucked into grey and black checkered slacks which he didn't intend to be so fitting on his legs. The sleeve to his shirt was rolled up to his elbows, revealing all the tattoos which cover his forearm.
Jungkook had no time to reconsider his outfit because the door was opening and he had to shape up and hold himself together in some recognizable form so he wouldn't melt apart.
To his relief it was Andrea at the door, wearing the most god-awful sweater he had ever seen. A whole slew of ugly patterns surrounding a sewn-in picture of Jesus Christ and the words, "birthday boy" above his head. Jungkook placed his hand over his mouth. Closed his eyes and breathed, inhaling deeply through his nose. "Wow...that was definitely a decision you made."
Andrea rolled her eyes. "Yeah, not exactly my choice." Her eyes latch on to the bottle of wine in his hands. A smile crept onto her lips. "That's not gonna last through the night." She took the bottle from him, finally giving herself the chance to look at what he was wearing. He looked extremely handsome, more put together than usual. "You look nice. All of us are wearing horrible sweaters so my mom will appreciate at least one well-dressed person." Andrea reached out, smoothing her hands over his chest to remove some of the wrinkles. Her hands lingered a little longer than needed on his chest.
With a sharp clearing of his throat, Jungkook grinned lopsidedly. "If you would stop fondling my man breasts that would be great. Let's reserve that for the bedroom." Andrea quickly removed her hands from her chest and readjusted her grip on the wine. Awkwardly, she turned towards the interior of the house. "Come on, Malik's pissed that I had us wait this long to open gifts."
Jungkook shuffled into the house, a beautiful house really. It was warm inside, rescuing Jungkook from the bitter cold. The air was stained with the mouthwatering smell of Christmas dinner. Everything about it was inviting, welcoming him in a warm embrace, a motherly touch on his cold face.
It felt like Christmas. For the past 4 years, his Christmases have been silent. He'd buy a bottle of soju, give a shot to his parents, and down a few himself. Christmas dinner was chalked down to a bowl of ramyeon. Nothing about it had the "Christmas Spirit". Logistically, Jungkook knew it was Christmas but it felt like just any other day for him.
