JIN HAS BEEN BY JUNGKOOK'S SIDE SINCE THE VERY BEGINNING. Fresh-faced, starry-eyed, and new to this violent world, Jungkook hardly had any connections outside of the few his father had supplied him. One of those connections just happened to be Jin. His father was a family friend apparently which was news to Jungkook because to him, he and his father were complete strangers. Can't be family friends if they weren't friends of the family.

Jin's father was a boxer, forced to retire after an illegal blow to the back of the head left him paralyzed from the neck down for 4 years before he inevitably died from complications with his injuries. It created a bond between the two men both similar in age, the loss of a parent tends to bring people together.

Jin didn't have the killer instinct needed to be a fighter, yet he valued the sport for the art form it was. He'd much prefer to watch from the sidelines without getting punched in the face. Didn't want to end up like those poor souls kept from their passion because of some unfortunate circumstance. One blow and it could all be over.

Don't get him wrong, he had the ferociousness. A mild temper combined with a sharp tongue and a strong mind made him just as much of a fighter as his father, but Jin wasn't one for the ring. Let someone come up to him on the wrong day and he's going to throw down the gauntlet without a second thought.

And because of his father's fame, people were willing to help him out, sometimes for the old friend that was his father, sometimes out of pure respect for the loins he happened to originate from, other times, that sharp tongue of his softened with an enchanting smile easing onto his lips, charming anyone who bears witness to it. Either way, it made Jin a damn good manager to have. He pulled strings like a puppeteer.

Jin wasn't only an amazing manager, but he was arguably Jungkook's best friend. Jungkook has other friends but none of them claim nearly as much time as Jin does. He's been here since day one and whenever Jungkook needed advice, he was the first person he spoke to.

There were so many questions that came to mind when Andrea came into his life and unapologetically flipped everything on its head. Too busy trying to process everything, Andrea's transitioning, his blatant, undeniable attraction to her, hidden sex under the covering blanket of night, he never thought to ask if Jin knew.

"Of course, he knows, I was friends with him when I retired," Andrea said it like it was the only logical conclusion to come to. Jungkook was smart, smarter than he let on. But it tends to be the smart people that lack common sense. They're too busy looking at the bigger picture to catch the more minor details. The world is too complex for a solution to be so simple.

Jungkook took the first chance he could to talk to Jin while Andrea wasn't around. He sought to get advice from him, how he could better understand Andrea as a "cis man" (the first time she called him that he had to go to the bathroom and Google what the absolute fuck "cis" meant). It was good to know he was trying. He wasn't being willfully ignorant to the life Andre leads, just...genuinely ignorant. He just wanted to ask questions without feeling stupid for not knowing in the first place.
