STRESSING OVER A DATE WAS A FOREIGN FEELING TO ANDREA. She roamed through the unfamiliar territory of trying to appease the specific male gaze of the man she was interested in. She's only ever been on a "date" twice with past boyfriends who didn't want people to see him around in public with her. They stayed inside, watched a movie, and he'd convince her to let him fuck her before she went home. Andrea was such a people pleaser at the time and they knew it so she let them.
Andrea hasn't gone on a date in a long time, and it wasn't for a lack of interested men. They sure did try but she always turned them down for one reason or another. More often than not she simply wasn't interested in whatever they had to offer her. Every other situation was a matter of fear that they will find out she's trans. They have could do a plethora of things with that information. Outed her, ghost her entirely, or take a more violent route in their reaction.
Andrea had considered whether her interest in fighting was just that, an interest and passion, or if it comes from a deep and innate desire to be able to defend herself from the physical violence she may face out in the world.
For the first time in 3 years, she's going on a date with a man she actually likes. And the first time in her entire life, a man she's felt safe with if not anything else.
She's spent the last hour and a half on video call with her mother, trying to figure out what was best to wear, if this date was even a good idea in the first place.
"He seemed like a nice, well-meaning man. Very respectful." She approved highly of Jungkook. Passed her vibe check which was good. If her mom liked him then there wasn't anything about him that tripped off the 6th sense all mothers seemed to have.
With no help from her mother who went on and on about how cute Jungkook was and how happy she was that Andrea was getting out there again, she finally managed to find a cohesive outfit. Her go-to, especially in the winter, was jeans, everything else she'd have to tuck and that was a whole other monster itself. So baggy jeans with bunch up at her feet paired with a black corset top and a slightly oversized black, leather jacket was what she ended up with.
She almost thought about changing into something different but the steady rap at her front door told her she was stuck in this outfit.
"I gotta go, mama. I'll talk to you later." Andrea picks up her phone along her way into the living room. Merian gave her the general mother gist, "stay safe, call me when you get home, if you ever feel unsafe leave immediately," like Andrea hasn't been living by these words her entire life. "I will, mama. I love you."
"I love you more."
Andrea hung up her phone and soothed her hands down her body to ensure she presented immaculately to him. Very few things have made Andrea so nervous. Never before has she liked a man so much. She used to think she loved her past boyfriends, but even the thought of them at the height of their relationships never made her so excited. It made her realize that what she had wasn't even close to love. It was desperation.
