Sasha stepped into her mother's room, where she was watching TV in her bed. Her hijab was messy, but not unwrapped. "Hello, Sasha," she said absently.

"Hi Maa," Sasha replied. "I just wanted to apologize again for getting suspended, um, I..." She stared at her feet and held back her tears. "I regret what I did."

Her mom glanced at her skeptically, then sighed. "You are such a good kid. Why did you do this? Is it because of that disease you have?" she asked.

This made Sasha's heart sink a bit further. She knew her mom didn't mean it in that way, but it still stung. "It isn't because I have autism, Maa," she said softly. "It was my own mistake, and I'll do better from now on. I promise,"

"Alright," her mother said. She smiled just slightly and gazed at Sasha, satisfied. "Thank you for the apology."

Sasha dipped her head, then immediately left the room.

She felt a bit detached. That went better than I expected, she thought. Huffing onto her bed, she grabbed her phone and checked her text messages. Nothing. She would've hoped Min and Stella would've made up or apologized or... said anything at all.

Emotions suddenly returning, she curled up and stared at her hands, tears dripping down her face. She hated this feeling.
