TW: small mention of suicidal ideation.

Caiman and Elle sat in the car, Elle silently turning the wheel and flicking her blinkers on every few minutes.

"Well," Caiman said. "That was..."

Frowning, Elle nodded. "Agreed."

Awkward silence.

"But it's over," The relief in Caiman's voice made Elle's heart sink. She pulled onto his road and murmured an agreeing statement, then drove into his driveway. He sighed and leaned back, then grabbed his stuff. "See you Monday," he smiled, unlocking the car and hopping out.

Elle watched him get into the house, then looked behind her, backing up carefully onto the road. There was a knot of anxiety tangled in her stomach. She felt nauseous. During dinner, her mother had pulled her aside and spoken to her.

"What's up mom?" Elle asked, wringing her hands nervously.

She smiled at her daughter. "He's a very nice boy," she said proudly. "I'm so glad you've found someone you like. We're so proud of you, honey,"

With a deep breath, Elle asked,"Um... what if we... broke up?" Elle averted her gaze from her mom.

To her surprise, her mother laughed. "If I broke up with a boy like that, I'd kill myself."

Elle pulled off the road and pressed the brakes, staring at her hands gripping the steering wheel. Her brain was empty, yet feelings of dread flooded her mind. She grabbed her phone and hooked it up to the Bluetooth of the car, turning on Be More Chill. Normally, she would've belted the lyrics, but tonight, she drove to the end of the soundtrack, completely quiet.

What was she supposed to do?

Blue laid in his bed, staring at the ceiling, listening to a crime podcast. He was trying to focus on the narrator's voice, but his brain was wandering. Mostly to his hangout with Whimsy, Elle, and Caiman. He couldn't take his mind off of it. It was kind of a comfortable hangout, which was weird. They were people he didn't know super well, but they acted like he was someone they'd known forever.

It made his heart swell.

"Hello my dear son," His mother burst into the room, startling Blue. She used the words a bit sarcastically. "Would you come join us for dinner my male child?"

Blue sighed. "Jesus mom," he complained. "Turn your voice and your straight ally-ness down," He got out of bed and stretched. His mother winked at him and walked away.

With a hefty groan, he pulled off his shirt, then looked in his mirror. His chest felt sore and airways restricted. Reluctantly, he took off his binder and threw it to the side. He put his sweatshirt over his head quickly, then left his room.
