Ding dong!

The first thought you had was one of sleepy contempt, followed by a plea for the extinguishment of the SOUL of whoever dared disturb you.

Whether fortunate or not, the frontmost intruder did not have a SOUL, guaranteeing him survival.

The godforsaken doorbell (which you couldn't explain why you'd installed in the first place) rang again, more insistent than the last.

Fine, fine! You stumbled out of bed, wings extending for balance. After a quick trip the the bathroom, you hurried down the stairs to the front door (clad in nothing but a rumpled t-shirt and sleep shorts).

When you opened the door, there were no less than five skeletons on the porch.

What in the multiverse???

Red was the first to speak, regaling your figure with a lewd once-over. "Damn, sweetheart-"

-And promptly smacked over the skull by Sans. "uh, is this a bad time?"

"Well, I did just wake up," you shrugged. "So... is there anything I can help you all with?"

"we need your help," Ink said solemnly. Never a good thing. "there's something wrong with the anti-void."

"What happened?" You asked, rubbing sleep from your eyes.

"it's best we show you."

That's ominous...

Whatever you expected to see was definitely not what you did see upon arriving at the anti-void.

"What- What the hell is that?!" You pointed at the bubbling mass in shock, staring at the others for answers.

"we don't actually know," Sans admitted. His hand wrapped around your wrist when you drew closer. "don't touch it."

You stared at the mass for a long, long time. Thick, blackened strings clung to the floating papers representing the AUs, emitting the foulest of stenches.

"It's like its... eating the AUs," you breathed.

"agreed, but we have no idea why its here."

Blue nodded, instating himself into the conversation. "WE THOUGHT YOU MIGHT KNOW."

"I wish I did," you shook your head. "...I might know something that can help, at least."

You reached into your pocket and produced your spellbook.

Dream inclined his skull. "What's that?"

"My book," you flipped to the correct page. "I can cast a containment spell. That should prevent it from spreading.

"please do," Sans said. "anything to stop further damage."

"Alright," your left hand hovered over the 'infection' as you murmured the activation phrase. A green glow fizzled around the area, enveloped the goop. Once the barrier was fully formed, you retracted your hand. "All done."

"WILL IT LAST?"

"For a while, I hope," you stuffed the book back into your pocket. "I wish I could have done more."

"it's fine," Red grinned, his false tooth glinting in the false light. "ya did a lot more that any of us."

"Thanks," you brush a strand of hair from your forehead. "I should go, it's food day-"

"ABOUT THAT," Blue interrupted. "WOULD IT BE ALRIGHT IF WE TAGGED ALONG?"

"Oh, sure," you shrugged, creating a portal back to your house. "The more the merrier, I guess."

"THANK YOU, (Y/N)!" The excitable skeleton exclaimed before hopping through the portal. Ink and Dream follow suit, the latter giving you a grateful smile, which you happily return. Sans and Red, however, remain behind.

"You coming?"

"nah, sorry, kid," Sans said. "promised paps i'd hang with him after this."

You smiled, thoughts drifting to his overachieving, spaghetti-loving brother.

"same here. sorry, sweetheart."

You wave off their apologies good-naturedly. "It's fine, you two. Have fun!"

"we will," they say in unison/ It's uncanny how similar they are, even though they are technically the same person.

With a wave goodbye, you step through the portal, allowing it to close behind you. Judging by the state of your front door, you guess that the others are already inside.

Sure enough, they're all seated at your kitchen table, save for Ink, who is rummaging through your fridge. Blue looks incensed, whisper-yelling at his friend.

"-You Can't Just Go Through Other People's Stuff, Ink-!" He notices you leaning against the doorway. "(Y/N)!"

"That's me," you grin, turning your gaze to Ink, who is staring at you with a guilty expression. "Hungry?"

"A bit," his grin lifts at your tone. "Sorry for raiding your fridge..."

You laugh. "Don't worry about it. Take anything you want."

"Really? Thanks!" He re-opens the fridge with renewed vigor. Blue shoots you an unimpressed look while Dream chuckles to himself.

"I'm going to change. Stay here, please," you say, remembering your current state of dress.

Blue nods. "DON'T WORRY, (Y/N), WE WILL GUARD THE HOUSE WHILE YOU ARE OCCUPIED!"

Aw, he's so sweet! Out of all the things you liked about Blue, his streak of chivalry and kindness was your favorite. "That's really nice of you, Blue. I'm counting on you, then."

Blue coughed loudly as a light blue tint covered his cheeks.

...is he blushing?

"O-OF COURSE! THE MAGNIFICENT BLUEBERRY WON'T DISAPPOINT!"

Heh, cute. "I never doubted you for a second."

Yup, he was definitely blushing. Without another word you turned and walked upstairs, tactfully ignoring the loud choking noises emanating from downstairs.

He'll be fine, I think.
