The air was tense as you sat down at the table. A month had passed since the bad guys had moved into the pocket and the Star Sanses called you for a meeting. The meeting place was Blue's home AU, Underswap. Muffet's Cafe, to be exact.
"SO..." Blue looked unsure of what to say. "ANY INCIDENTS?"
You chose not to mention your unfortunate encounter with Dust a few weeks ago; a tactful decision. "No."
"Not yet," you were sure you heard Ink mutter.
"Ink," Dream reprimanded the tattooed skeleton. "Please."
And so, the silence persisted.
Until Blue spoke up. Again.
"UM, (Y/N)," the shorter skeleton glanced at entrance, then at you. "I HOPE YOU DO NOT MIND, BUT WE INVITED A FEW GUESTS."
"It's alright-" you stopped when something touched your shoulder.
"'sup, sweetheart,"
Oh stars, no.
You could recognize that tone anywhere. "Ah, Red."
"'atta girl," Red appeared before you in a flash, flanked by the original Sans, who waved at you. "happy t' see me?"
Please don't flirt with me.
"You could say," you offered him a friendly smile before turning your gaze to Sans. "Hello to you too, Sans."
His grin widened a smidge. "tibia honest, it's pretty nice to see ya too, kiddo."
"OH MY GOD, SANS," Blue skull-palmed. "THIS IS A SERIOUS MEETING."
"heh, guess i need to consider the gravity of the situation."
You stifled a giggle. Sans was always so funny. Blue glanced at you, betrayed. "NOT YOU TOO!"
"Blue's right, this is a serious meeting," Dream interjected. "We need to decide what to do with my brother and his crew."
Sans looked at you. "what do you think we should do, kid? you're their caretaker."
You thought for a moment. "Well, I think they should be allowed to live on their own."
Red bristled. "are ya crazy?! they'll kill someone before ya can even blink!"
"RED," Blue warned. "LET HER TALK."
"They have nothing to do except cook and watch TV," you continued. "I can only visit every few days because of my guardian duties. God knows how bored they are."
"an' what makes ya think we care about whether those fuckers are bored or not after what they did- ow! blue!" Red rubbed the spot on his skull where Blue had smacked him, glowering at the less-edgy skeleton.
"Don't you think that they'll be more dangerous if they're bored?" You argued. "To be frank, keeping them locked up isn't going to do shit."
"we understand your point, kid, but how can you be sure they won't hurt anyone?" Sans asked. "they've done some pretty messed up things."
"They'll never change if we never give them a chance to."
The table went quiet. Blue, Dream, and Sans looked thoughtful, at least, though Red and Ink looked like they'd just eaten a lemon each.
"...YOU MAKE A GOOD POINT," Blue said after a moment. "WHAT... WHAT DO THE REST OF YOU THINK?"
"i'm in as long as no one dies," Sans said with a shrug. "or gets viciously mauled; that kind of thing."
"I agree with sans," Dream sighed. "If this'll help my brother-"
"ya can't be serious!" Red snarled. "they're murders, for cryin' out loud!"
"i don't think this is a good idea, (y/n)," Ink stated. "they could be manipulating you into thinking their good; i know nightmare-"
Oh, you son of a-
"Now hold on," you interrupted. "You think I'm suggesting this because I've been brainwashed?!"
The tattooed skeleton seemed to wither under your scathing gaze. "well-"
You stood up, towering over the skeletons. "I think I'm smart enough to tell if I'm being manipulated, Ink. None of you have to believe me, but things are only going to get worse if nothing is done about it."
Sans raised his hands in a placating manner. "kid, we know you just want to help, but-"
"But what, Sans?"
Now it was Sans' turn to wither under your gaze. "uh..."
Bzzzt! Bzzzt! Your phone vibrated in your pocket - it was Nightmare. The house you'd built them was equipped with a wall-phone (your number was on the fridge) that allowed the caller to state their name if they so chose. "Excuse me, I need to take this." You told the others.
"T-TAKE ALL THE TIME YOU NEED!"
You smiled at Blue and pressed the receiver against your ear. "Hello?"
"Where are you?"
Oh stars, did I forget to bring food- wait, that was yesterday... "At a meeting. What do you need, Nightmare?"
Out of the corner of your eye, you saw Red whisper something in Ink's 'ear'. The tattooed skeleton shrugged and folded his bony arms across his chest. Nice one, (Y/n).
"Come over. Now."
That can't be good...
"Not unless you tell me what's going on. I'm at a very important meeting."
A pause. "There is a hole in the living room wall."
Um, what??
"There's a hole in the wall?" You parroted. "Why? How??"
Silence. "...Just come fix it."
"Can't you?"
"No. It is very... profound."
Oh stars...
"UM... IS EVERYTHING ALRIGHT?" Blue asked, albeit nervously.
You sighed and hung up. "Nightmare called... there is a hole in their living room wall and they need me to come fix it. He was very vague."
Sans gaped. "a what in the what?"
"My thoughts exactly," you deadpanned. "...Can I...?"
"YEAH, YOU CAN," Blue smiled at you. "I wish you luck."
I'll need it.
