Two years later...

It was a beautiful day in Dreamtale. Flowers were blooming, birds were singing, and a light breeze flowed through the air. Two children, a brother, and a sister no older than ten, frolic among the trees; one female skeleton monster with pure white bones and teal eyesockets and a male bird monster with dappled white-and-black wings sprouting from his back.

"Can't catch me!" The girl calls, giggling madly. She darts between the tall trees, evading the boy.

"I will!" The boy cries, wings flapping madly. While he is too small to take off, the constant flapping propels him through the thick grasses and towering trees, struggling to catch his over-excited sister. "Stay still!"

"Never!" She exclaims proudly, evading another lunge. "Ha, slowpoke!"

"Kids? Where are you?" Another voice rings through the clearing. Both children stop when another bird monster emerges from the trees, wings spread alertly. "Oh! There you are!"

"Mama!" The girl rushes forward, latching onto her mother's leg.

"Hey, sweetie, did you have fun?" The older monster asks sweetly, patting her daughter's head.

"Mhm! Birch and I played hide and seek! He can't catch me 'cause I'm so fast!"

"Hey!" Birch interrupts, wings fluffing indignantly. "Are not!"

"Are too!"

"Nooooooo!"

Cheerful laughter echoed through the clearing as the family departed. "Come on, kiddos. Daddy's waiting for us."

Life was a miracle.

Two years had passed since Gaster, and you couldn't have enjoyed the newfound peace anymore. Because now, after all the trials you'd faced, you had a family: two beautiful children and a loving mate.

Much to everyone's surprise, you and Nightmare became mates half a year after the 'resurrection incident'. There was nothing fancy about your union, which made it all the more special.

Because living was exactly as you imagined it: not perfect, but enough.

And honestly, anything was enough after your ordeal with Gaster. Tragedy breeds the most grateful of SOULs.

"Love, are you alright?" Nightmare's voice snaps you from your thoughts.

"Huh-?" You nearly spring from your seat, halting when you realize who it is. "Oh, hey, hun."

He rests his hands on your shoulders, bending over the chair you're sitting in to plant a kiss on your head. "You look stressed. Did something happen?"

"I'm fine," you assure him, tilting your head back to kiss his mandible. Nightmare chuckles sweetly, eyelight swollen with affection. "But thanks for asking."

"Hmm," he hums, walking to the front of the chair and kneeling between your thighs, grinning wickedly. "The kids are with Dream, we could have some fun~"

You giggle. "I suppose so. How long has it been, a week?"

"More like an eternity," Nightmare purrs. "I'm afraid I just can't get enough of you."

"Then who am I to stop you?" You grip the collar of his shirt and pull him into your lap. "Got any special requests, hun?"

He merely laughs and presses his teeth against your lips, phalanges squeezing your shoulders. Even now, he still tastes like apples. "I'm sure we can think of something, love."
