"I just don't understand how I could have lost those last two marks?" I complain to Amanda in fast French.
She scowls at me playfully, "ah mon dieu. I'm just pleased I produced something worthy of a mark."
"But I'm a perfectionist, Ames." I complain, sighing as my stomach grumbles and I realise that I'm going to have to cook dinner when I get home.
All I want to do is curl up on the sofa and read one of my books, and definitely not wait for Enzo to message. It's been three days since his last message, to be fair to him, he did tell me he might be off the radar for a while.
It's just that in my mind, a while was an hour or two, not three days. Because I'm thinking about Enzo, as Amanda and I walk side by side down the corridor, I feel the need to check my phone to see if he's messaged.
When he hasn't, I try to hide the disappointment on my face.
"Lover boy still hasn't messaged?" Amanda says with a sad expression.
I shake my head, "no, still radio silence."
"It's the same with Marco, it must be something they're doing together."
"Yeah, I guess." I nod my head as I push open the doors that lead out onto the car park.
"Oh wow!" I exhale in a breath just as Amanda's phone rings.
Standing by his car, is Enzo. When he sees me standing at the top of the steps, he takes off his sunglasses and waves me over to him.
I take off in a fast walk to preserve my dignity but all that quickly disappears as I speed up.
"You're here!" I squeal as I launch myself into his outstretched arms.
He catches me with ease and spins up around as I wrap my arms around his neck. After a few moments he places me back on the floor and then I shoot him with my worst look.
"Where the hell have you been?" I demand with a scowl.
"I'm sorry, Lucia. I was away on business."
"What? So much business that you could text me back?"
"Pretty much, yeah."
"Hmmm." I think for a moment as I make my decision. I could continue to be pissed about the radio silence and spend the whole evening with Enzo cross, or I could accept that if he didn't have time to message, it means he didn't.
"Ok." I lean up on my tip toes and kiss his cheek gently.
"That's it?" Enzo asks, looking down at me in bemusement as he brushes a strand of my hair from my eyes.
"Yes, now let's go have fun."
"As you wish, mi'lady." Enzo says with a dorky grin as he holds open the car door for me, "where to? You decide."
