Opening up my biology textbook at page 67, I opened to our newest topic enzymes. Despite it already being 11pm, I was determined to finish my studying before my biology exam tomorrow which contributed to the final 20% of our grade.

But that wasn't the only reason I wanted to do well. I wanted to beat Geto. No. I needed to beat Geto.

I cannot have them shoving their higher score in my face one more time, considering we had been competing for the top spot for basically our whole school career.

My dim lamp casted an ugly yellow light over my pages, my eyes holding on for dear life to stay open, the ticking of the clock slowly making me crazy.

With a huff I just set my head down on my page, it wouldn't hurt to close my eyes for a little while right?

[6 AM]

Feeling my body start to shiver from not being covered enough, my eyes opened gradually only to be met with my clock displaying the time. This was definitely not supposed to happen.

I audibly groaned feeling the irritation rising up in me,

"stupid stupid Y/n" I said hitting myself with my textbook realising I had more or less wasted a good few hours I could have spent revising; now I have to face Geto's stupid smug little face.

I groggily stood up pushing my frazzled hair out of my face and putting it into a low ponytail for now. I quickly packed my school books into my school bag and focused on getting ready for school.

[Arriving at school]

I got out of my dad's car, but before I could close it he said, "Don't let Geto get to you alright? You're a winner Y/n"

"Thanks dad" I said monotone, already being used to his pep talks especially on exam days.

I basically dragged myself to school, hearing the people around me panicking about the Biology exam.

I walked around the corridor, heading to the exam hall seeing enough people already waiting outside. One of them being Geto. I turned around so quickly you would have thought I was magic, I was not in the mood to deal with their antics especially today of all days.

"Are you ready for the exam? Miss runner up" I heard Geto behind me, already hearing the laughter rising in their throat.

"Yes, yes I am you asshole" I said turning around and walking straight past them seeing the exam hall doors open.

Before I could get any further I felt someone grab my arm, already feeling annoyed enough I asked through gritted teeth, "what? what is it now?"

Geto just looked at me? but not like they usually did?

"Good luck Y/n"

What did they just say? Did they just wish ME luck?

"I don't need your luck Geto, if anything you might need it" I said, twisting my arm out of their grasp and finding my allocated seat in the hall.

The papers were given out, the competition had begun.

[After the Exam]

Once we were let out of the exam hall, I saw

Geto walking towards my direction, instead of saying some snarky remark they just walked past me?

Now why did that piss me off more than the situation earlier?
