A 10-year-old Dove ran through the streets with some bread in her hands. Rocks were tossed at her as she continued to run.

"Stop that thief!" The owner yelled, but Dove was long gone and into hiding.

"Akainu, I am home..." She yelled and went to the sleeping area that they often slept in since it was an abandoned building that no one ever decided to go near.

"Welcome home, Dove. Did you steal again?"

"I have to, or else we will starve." Dove pouted again, and a 13-year-old Akainu sighed, pulling Dove close to him.

"We won't have to worry about this soon."

"Why? Not that I am complaining." She said, looking up at her best friend smiling.

"Well, I am going into the marines in years. And I am going to be the best. Once that happens, I will take care of you."

"You won't forget me?"

"Of course not." Dove smiled and pecked Akainu's cheek softly. Akainu blushed and looked away, scratching his neck. Dove grabbed the bread that fell to the floor, and she broke it in half, giving it to him. He took it and smiled at her softly as he took a bite of the bread.

~15 years later~

Dove walked up to the headquarters before being stopped by some marines.

"State your business here."

"I am here to see Sakauki-kun." Dove said, adjusting her jacket.

"You are crazy...."

"Eh?"

"I-Is he e-expecting you?" The marine stumbled over his words at the mention of his boss's name.

"Nope."

"Do you have a death wish?"

"Can I go now?"

"Uhm......" Dove held up her FBI badge

"W-We will take you." They carefully led you inside, and you passed several marines who were busy doing their business. Dove stopped seeing her best friend, who hadn't called her through the transponder snail or sent her a letter for 15 years, only the money to help take care of her. Which now she didn't need, by the way, anymore.

Sakazuki felt eyes on him, and he stopped talking to Sengoku. Dove placed a hand on her hip, leaning to the side as the marine's stumbled out of his line of vision.

"What did you do to these poor marines for them to fear you so much?" Dove raised an eyebrow keeping a straight face. Sakazuki rolled the cigar between his teeth.

"And you picked up a bad habit of smoking... gross," Dove said, taking the cigar out of his mouth and stomping it out. Everyone gasped, and Sengoku was prepared to step in if Sakazuki tried to kill the pretty lad, but he coughed when he witnessed Dove hitting Sakazuki's head.

"YOU JERK! NOT A WORD FROM YOU!? FOR 15 YEARS!"

"Good to see you to Dove." He said with a straight face, a tick mark forming on his head. He didn't know if he should be happy to see you or drag you away so he could remain emotionless around the marines.

"Don't "good to see you too Dove" me Sakazuki Akainu."

"Can we go elsewhere?" Akainu didn't wait for an answer as he dragged her away.

"Who is that?"

"His lover?"

"He has a lover?"

"No way..."

"She is hot..."

"Idiot, don't say that out loud unless you wanna die." Dove started to pout at Akainu when they were in his office.

"What are you doing here?" Akainu asked, his eyes softening a bit. Dove smiled softly and shifted.

"Well, it's quite a long story; got time on your hands?"

"For you, I always do... I hope I sent enough money for you to survive on."

"Of course you did, and I tried to call you to stop sending money. I work with the FBI, and I am being stationed over here. I tried calling you to tell you the news, but you never picked up, never responded to my letters. Not a word from you for 15 years." Dove looked down, and Akainu took her face in his hands and pressed his lips to her forehead.

"I am sorry I've been really busy. I wanted to make sure you had an easy life. And if I called you, you would have been or could have been a target for pirate scum." Dove bit her with a small blush as she smiled.

"So you were trying to protect me?"

"Mhmm....."

"A-Akainu... I am sorry I hit you then." She said, wrapping her arms around his torso. She felt the heat radiate off of his chest.

"It's okay. I deserved it. I am sorry. I won't ever leave you again."

"Of course not because I am being stationed in your group. They are splitting the FBI agents with different admirals and captains, and I was able to sweet-talk my boss to let me work under you." Akainu only shook his head. Even though he didn't smile, Dove could see the love in his eyes and how much he cared for her.

"I also wanted to tell you something...something I couldn't tell you before..." Dove shifted shyly.

"What is it?"

"I-I love you... I have for years. Akainu pressed his lips to hers softly.

"And I you too..." Dove laughed softly.

"You know the "love" word doesn't hurt to say."

"I...love you..." He rushed the ending, and Dove laughed before pecking his cheek, causing him to blush.

"Don't do this in front of the marines. I have a reputation for keeping up." Dove rolled her eyes.

"Hai hai....." Akainu grunted at his response, pulled her into his lap, and buried his face in her neck.

"I am glad you are here." He said as he pressed her head to his chest. She could feel his heartbeat increase, making her smile up at him.

"Me too. By the way, you gained a lot of muscle. And the nice tattoo." She grinned, and he poked her forehead.

"Shut up, my Dove... You are going to be my wife as well."

"You know you don't have to tell me I would say yes even if you asked."

"I am just letting you know I wouldn't take no as an answer."

"So cold, despite you being called a lava mutt. Geez..." Dove laughed, and Akainu couldn't help but let a small smile grace his lips.

"I will never leave you or hurt you again, I promise.
