Haley's POV
I woke up with the sunlight falling onto my face. Kayden was already up and staring at me.
"Good morning sunshine!" He smiled.
"Good morning Kayden!" I felt too weak to get up. My limbs were still stiff after last nights fight so I snuggled into his chest.
Once in a while it's nice to know I can wake up next to him even if I know the moment we step out of this room the entire world is chaos.
"You can't make me stay here all day babe. My boss is gonna be mad at me for being late." Is he teasing me for real now?
I look at him then went back to clinging on to his hoodie. "I'll talk to her."
"Really?"
"Yeah really."
"Or is my boss feeling lazy today and she wants her boyfriend to stay home with her?" I liked his morning voice soo much, mostly cause I like the butterflies he gives me.
"That is also possible." I giggled.
"Okay now let's get up." He kissed my forehead then sat up. The first thing he did was pick up the gun on the table next to the bed. A practice that just might be the reason we are alive. I stretched my arms still laying down. A sharp pain hit my chest.
"Ah!" My hands travelled to place itself on my chest as I hissed in pain.
"Babe is everything okay?"
I shut my eyes breathing heavy. It felt like I've been punched again. The same spot that kid punched me yesterday. I looked up seeing Kayden worried, staring at me till I answered his question.
"Yeah. I'm okay. Just the punch from last night."
"I think we should go check it up." He sat down next to me.
"No Kayden I'll be fine." I insisted. "Plus Chris would freak out. I mean this was the first time he got to know I fought. He might even end up making me quit so no, I'll be fine."
He let out a deep breath before speaking again. "Fine!" His tone was scary and protective. He takes care of these things himself when stuff like this happens. "But if it hurts again I'm taking you for a check up." And he's still worried for me.
"Okay." I said softly. I moved to sit on the side of the bed with a little pout on my lips.
"Kay come on now." He said turning to me. I didn't stand up, instead I stretched out my arms signalling for him to pick me up. "You know this is why I was surprised to know you were the boss."
"What?" I asked clinging on to him like a kola.
"You're still a baby."
"I know."
I came out of the bathroom to find him in front of the mirror trying to fix his tie. I stood at the door smiling to myself wondering how the hell is he struggling with a tie like little boy when he's one of the best mafias they could possibly recruit?
"I see you're enjoying watching me struggle." He was looking at me through the mirror. I pushed myself off the wall.
"Well moms always find it adorable when their kids struggle with their clothes don't they?" I fixed the knot.
"But still I'm older than you. This is only for you." He pecked my lips.
"You sure don't seem like your older. You're more of a tiger baby." I giggled. "People get scared but you're still a kid to tiger mom." He put a hand around my waist and pulled me closer to him.
