Haley's POV

I couldn't sleep the rest of the night, or the day after. His words kept ringing in my head. It was as if the wall just made his voice eco between the walls just so it can torture me. It was his voice, not the strong dominant one but the sad and broken one that I knew.

The sky was getting darker and the moon took over. I missed counting stars with him, I couldn't imagine what Chris was doing, what about Kat? Are they okay? Thinking about this made me sad more than being angry at Quinn.

I was pulled out of my train of thoughts when I heard the door of the cellar open. It was Quinn followed by a guard and Kayden. He kept his head hung low not knowing I heard him the other day, but still I don't know if my heart is willing to listen to it anymore.

"Oh dear!" Quinn laughed. "Why don't you yourself get your girlfriend to that special room of ours. I need to talk to her." At first he turned to him in shock. "Go on." Kayden looked away.

"Yes..." He hesitated. "Yes dad." He said softly and he walked towards me.

Dad? Quinn was his father? He told me his father died. He's just doing all this to be the next leader?

Kayden grabbed my arm a little harshly than I expected. How am I ever gonna trust him if he's never told me anything but lies?

We followed Quinn. Kayden seemed to know where we were going. When we finally entered the room I knew it was meant to torture people. Kayden slightly pulled me back towards him.

There was a glass separating the room from something that looked like it was built for someone to watch the prisoners being tortured. It was a rather odd looking crappie old room with a leaking ceiling, dirty walls and there was even something like a TV in the corner. What psychopath tortures people making them watch a TV?

"She'll stay here from now on." Quinn spoke. Kayden let go. I knew looking at him will not make things better, it was just gonna make it harder for me to forget that the one person I actually loved in this world lied to me. "You can leave now Son."

Just like that Kayden was gone leaving me alone with him.

"Don't worry girly!" He said after a few seconds. "I'm not gonna torture you... Unless he refuses to do what I say. I just wanted to show you something."

I was handcuffed, so I don't think he was worried. Everything was silent until he spoke again. "I had a daughter. She wasn't useful when it comes to passing on my leadership. But then I married Kayden's mother, and well I offered Kayden with the training he needed. Made him the strong fighter he is. But all I ever wanted from him was for him to lead this gang after me and pledge himself to the Quinn's. And there by ensure my safety."

I stared at him wondering why he was telling me this now. He walked over to a chair at the corner of the room and on it was a cardboard box. From inside he pulled out something that looked like a video tape.

"Well you see.... Kayden was always a very mischievous boy. He refused to be a complete mafia. So I did this" He showed me the tape then he put it in the play turning on the old TV.

In a few seconds the screen played a video of a boy being tortured. Right here in this very room. But what I couldn't understand was the boy on the chair being Kayden. I gasped.

"He almost died you know?" I didn't say a word. He wasn't wearing a shirt and he was completely covered in blood. Every single scar that I felt on him with my own hands, were made right here by this man. A man punched him, causing him to caught out blood. What kind of psycho records him torturing his son?

I wasn't intending it but a tear rolled down my cheek. His past he didn't like recalling, was all because of this man.

"By then end of this day I didn't want to risk the only son I had dieing so I took different measures. I learned that if I want something from him first, I have to take something he holds very dearly. So I killed his sister."

"You killed your own daughter cause you wanted a future for your mafia?" I yelled.

"You see he IS the future of this mafia." He leaned closer. "But he was in love.... With you."

My eyes widened. Kayden refused to be the leader cause he wanted me? "I couldn't allow him to fall in love with the girl who's father is the man I want dead. So I set the bomb, told him his sister died from that bomb and sent him to your father pretending that he was a victim of the attack."

I glared at him.

"He went there thinking I would let go of her once he did it but what can I say.... She was just a pawn in my game." He spat. "Everything went according to plan and he thought I forgot about him until I knew my next pawn was you." He pointed his gun at me. "Don't worry I won't kill you yet!" He laughed and kept walking around me in circles. "He loved you so much he tried to protect you from every single bullet I fired at you. In the end I managed to kill your father. You know he felt soo guilty he tried to stop that too. Unfortunately wasn't a better fighter than me."

He laughed. The video on the screen kept playing. I was no longer facing him but my focus was completely on the young boy trying to run free. His eyes met the camera. They were sparkling with tears. It felt as if he was asking me to save him.

"He wasn't expecting me to hold you captive here that night Haley." I looked at the eyes of the boy on screen. The boy who had nothing to live for, someone who only craved for love. "But I need you to make sure he stays here for the rest of his life and take the pride of this gang to places others can't reach."

He's using his love against him. Kayden is an innocent boy trying to find love in hell. Of cause. He doesn't want Kayden cause he's a good fighter, he wants him so that it reduces the chance of other gang leaders killing him. In this world the next gang leader would always go hunting for the killer which puts other gangs at risk. Its just his strategy to stay alive.

"If you want to live. Why don't you ask him to do so next time you see him?"

What if I don't want to live?

What if I don't want to live?
