Kayden's POV

A month later we found ourselves visiting the hospital more often. Most of the time we had to stay over night. She hated hospital walls more than anything now. I wanted to make her happier though I didn't know if she'll remember it by tomorrow. Her brain was dying, that's what the doctors could say. And her heart was weaker. Everything was happening faster than they expected. She forgets things, even some of her favourite things.

I took her over to our favourite carnival ride on our way home, just so we can watch the sun set. I remembered to take a polaroid and write down the date every time. I pined it on to the notice board across or room. We used to have our mission schedules pined there. We took everything down and put up pictures of us together. Pictures of our families.

That morning I woke up to see Lizzy tapping my face trying to wake me up. I freaked out at first then stood up immediately and pulled on a shirt over my shorts. "Good morning Lizz!"

"Mommy asked me to wake you up." She smiled at me. I pat her head.

"Do you like it here?" I asked after a few second pause, looking at the girl standing with the toy we got her the other day. Her bruises healed and she seemed happier. She nodded with a smile. Funny how she finds comfort in this hell and her bruises heal inside the same house while the love of my life is trying to stay alive one more day.

"Okay We'll be down in a bit." I pat her head with a smile.

I turned to Haley who apparently was already awake. I noticed her face paler than last night, her eyes close with her eyebrows frowning. She was in pain again.

"Babe?" I slowly placed my hand on her cheek. She opened her eyes letting out a deep sigh, tearing up as she let her eyes focus on me through her tears. "Do you need something love?"

She slowly shook her head signalling no with her eyes closed. Something was wrong. But 'I'm okay' was what she always said

"I think we should go to the hospital again Haley." I pushed the blanket away from her crawling back over to her then trying to help her lift her head up. "Lizzy!" I turned to the little girl who was shocked at my sudden expression change. "Go get Sofia!" Being the kid she is she was smart. She ran out the door screaming "Mommy!"

"Come on baby." I pulled her closer. She grabbed my hand. I looked at her face painted with a smile to hide her pain, and she slowly shook her head.

"No." She whispered. "It's no use Kayden."

That's not true. It could get her through one more day. "No baby come on."

"Tiger please!" I stopped. "It'll go away in a little. It's been happening lately." The pain in her voice froze me on the spot. She tried to tighten her grip on my arm.

Haley's POV

"Haley-"

"It hurts Kayden." A tear left my eye. "They stick needles into me trying to keep me alive. All that it does is hurt me."

"I'm sorry love!" He sat down by me the leaned in to kiss my forehead. "I'm sorry! But you need the meds."

What use is it if I only have a little time left? I'm just spending half the time locked in a place I feel suffocated in.
