It was a quiet afternoon. The sun was hanging towards the end of the blue, blue sky that had a tinge of pink on its edges. There were clouds fogging the sky with confusion and cold uncertainty of what today had in store for the group of girls and boys.
"He was a classmate of mine through middle school and high school." Lily filled them in on who the mystery guy was. She didn't want to get into her past because part of it still haunted her and she was embarrassed. She locked eyes with Blade for a moment, as she continued explaining who this boy was. "His name is Trey Grays..."
Everyone was sitting on the living room's furniture. Blade was standing at the corner of the coffee table, Lily was on the couch across from him, Zane on the arm of the couch Angelica next to him, Andy by Cherry on the love couch, Jax sitting on a kitchen chair while Trey stood at the doorway awkwardly.
"Yes, I-I wouldn't say I'm a friend of hers, to be honest, I wasn't a good guy in high school. I've made bad choices." Trey admitted which took Lily by surprise. She never expected him to say those words at all. She thought he was still the bad boy asshole type.
Cherry stood up to fetch the teapot that was hissing notifying her that it was done. She started pouring tea into the mugs. She brought one to Trey first trying to be polite.
"Here's your tea, pretty face." She beamed at the red-haired boy handing him the gray mug full of green tea.
"Don't call me that. Only one person can call me that." Trey scowled at her as he stole a glance in Lily's direction. The nickname was one that Lily had given him in middle school. He acted like he hated the name but truthfully it made him happy when she used it. "But...I do appreciate the tea, just don't call me that." He quickly added as everyone stared at him.
"Alright, so now that we know who you are can you explain the beat-up clothes, and cuts on your face and body?" Blade made eye contact with Trey holding it, as he moved to sit by Lily closer to her than he needed to be.
"Yes, I was going to." Trey croaked out nervously scratching at his head still standing by the front door.
"Come have a seat. No need to stand there at the door." Zane says taking the tea Cherry gave him to his lips and sipping it slowly.
So he does take a sit. He chooses to sit on the other side of Lily. Blade notices this and clenches his jaw unexpectedly. He runs a hand through his dark messy hair and scoots closer to Lily so close he picks up on her perfume. It smells of vanilla and lavender.
"So go ahead explain." Blade urges him again trying not to sound impatient or angry. For some reason, he felt uncomfortable with this guy knowing Lily or even just sitting by her.
"Alright, where should I start..." Trey muttered to himself. "I guess the beginning is good..." He says out loud as he leans back on the couch thinking back on that horrific day. "It was an afternoon like this one. I was at my dad's helping him. He was very sick."
~Flashback~
It was a cold afternoon. Trey came back from the pharmacy with prescription medicine for his dad. He sat down the bags in his arms to pull out the key from his back pocket. He unlocked the front door locking it back as he slammed it shut. He bit back tears seeing his dad so sick on the floor coughing up blood.
"Trey...my son...I'm sorry you have to see me like this." He rasped out as he continued coughing.
It was getting worse every day. Trey didn't know what sickness he had but it was bad.
~Present time~
"My father was getting worse. He was so sick the doctors advised him to be bedridden." Trey said, trying to hide the sadness in his voice.
