i nodded at jake showing a small smile. i appreciated the boys company. it made me feel better. i sat down on the couch as sam walked over to his bass.

josh spun around and headed to his spot. he twisted the microphone cord around his finger and stared at me. "this ones relatively new. its called Mountain Of the Sun." he said in a theatrical tone.

suddenly jake started strumming loudly. the guitar was super catchy and jake seemed like it was effortless to him. then josh started singing along with the guitar to begin the song.

The sun shines brighter from above,
and you're the one that i love

i smiled and listened to them. they all looked so happy. i looked over at sammy and he looked more focused than the twins and drummer. he looked like his only care in the world was getting the song right.

i noticed little facial expressions he made and saw him counting along to the song. he was so damn adorable. i loved his bass face.

jake started a guitar solo and brought all the attention to him. i could tell jakes whole life was guitar. he was glowing with talent and love for the instrument. it was effortless.

josh started to sing again and dance around. he walked forward and pointed to me.

oh well the sun shines brighter from above
and youre the one that i love
we climb the mountain even higher
kiss the sun, fight the fire

he was singing directly to me and i gave him a huge smile. sammy wasnt looking at his bass anymore. his attention was on me.

i noticed quickly and started to watch him instead of josh.

i had to be sure to play the song 100% correct. no mistakes. even though we just wrote it a month ago. i didnt want to mess up in front of jackie.

i followed along well until i noticed jackie watching jake. she looked amazed. i could see her staring in awe of jake and his guitar. i struggled to keep up.

then the solo ended, josh walked to the front of the room. he pointed at jackie and sang to her.

i dont know if it was the lyrics or the sheer attention from jackie that made me upset. but she was smiling.

she noticed me staring and shifted her attention back to me. i tried my best to keep up with the tempo  and get back into the song. i did well, shockingly.

the song slowly ended and it felt like forever. when it was finally over she stood up and clapped. "you guys are amazing!" she shouted and cheered. i smiled and sat down my bass

she wrapped her cardigan around her waist. i just noticed that she still had it on. i blushed.

jake put his guitar down. "how was the solo?" jake said raising an eyebrow at her. "SO cool. you make it look so easy." she laughed with her arms crossed.

i just brushed it off and walked over to her. "and YOU sounded brilliant." she said rubbing her hand on my back, pulling me in for a side hug.

"how sweet." josh said smiling. he was being quiet for once. its not like him to keep his mouth shut. i guess he noticed how uncomfortable i was.

"sammy is that your sweater?" jake asked pointing at jackie with a smile. i looked down at her, her face was red. "yeah its his, i got cold yesterday and he gave it to me." she shrugged.

jake chuckled and shook his head. "our little brother is smooooth." he said to josh.

"almost like i set that up. you're welcome by the way." josh said while putting some cords in a box.

"yeah i forgot to yell at you for that, but im
not mad anymore." i said over to josh. he shrugged and walked out of the room with the box. jackie laughed at me.

"youre welcome to just sit and hang out while we record." i said rubbing her back. "im gunna be here for another hour." i said checking the time.

she plopped down on the couch. "i dont have anywhere to be." she said with a huge grin.

"good, we need your criticism." jake said to her while pulling me to my bass. "not too harsh though, sammy is sensitive." he laughed.
