You never got enough sleep that night. You kept tossing and turning on your bed that you didn't realize it was already six in the morning. Seeing how you won't have any time to try to sleep anyway, you decided to take a shower and get ready for work.

While you were brushing your teeth, you thought about the events yesterday. It was the first time you felt so scared for your life since your mother died. You saw those men. You have a feeling they were telling the truth because they didn't look like they were bluffing. You know when someone's lying and you can clearly tell they weren't. They truly mean it when they say they'll end you and your father's lives if you don't pay their damn money.

To prevent yourself from having a sour mood, you shake off the thoughts and focused on getting ready. Despite what happened, you still wanted to act like there wasn't a problem resting heavily on your shoulders.

You made it to the office in just a few minutes by walking, and wasn't surprised when you saw Ash already on her table. She waved at you and smiled as a greeting. You gave her a forced smile that doesn't seem forced because you're that good at pretending. You can never let anyone know what happened to you yesterday.

"Good morning!" she chirps. Here she is again, being a morning person. You sighed. "Hey." you grunted. You've had your coffee on the way to work but it was still not enough to wake your senses. It's too early to even think. Ash is clearly the opposite.

She leaned a bit to whisper, "Ya know, we're going to a club tonight."

You didn't react or anything. Thank God. You were waiting for something or someone to come to make you forget your problems temporarily. She's lucky today, since you needed something to distract you from the threat that has been lingering in your head for ten hours now.

"I'll go." you didn't let her continue.

She was caught off guard by your immediate response and the grin on her face spreads wider. "Oh, shit. Yes!" she whisper-shouts, pumping her fist in the air like she just won the lottery. "You don't know how happy I am right now." her face was all red due to how excited she was.

You can't help but smile at her reaction. She's probably one of the few friends you consider now, since all of the friends you made in college, except Dash, were gone. You stopped contacting them after your mother died and when you dropped out of college, neither did they. Sure, they checked on you for the first few weeks but after that, nada. They probably gave up because you didn't feel like responding to their condolences.

Having too many friends is overrated, anyway.

"I'll see you tonight, okay? We're gonna have so much fun." she giggles and gave you a wink.

When you made your way to your cubicle, you made a mental note to introduce her to Dash. Ash and Dash, huh. Dash would love her since they have so many similarities. They both like to talk and you like to listen, so it's a balanced group. You'd probably ask her to come tonight, too.

The day went painfully slow since you were anticipating to get so drunk that you'll pass out tonight. Time is a bitch, indeed. Since you wanted Dash to meet your co-worker, you asked Ash if you can bring someone with you to the party. She asked if it was your boyfriend, and you cringed at that. You know she saw your reaction because she laughed at it but didn't comment about it either. She didn't pry too much about your love life and you like that about her. You'd probably tell her the truth if you finally hang out with her outside of office hours.

Ash being Ash, she agreed when you told her you wanted her to meet your friend. She was so excited that you swore you saw stars in her eyes. You didn't get to work at the café because you badly needed to loosen up. You swore this'll be just a one time thing and after that, you'll manage to find a way to pay the money. This wasn't the solution you needed but this is what you wanted. Just for tonight.
