Impressions of World War Two
World War Two was a tumultous event in world history that comes out also as a lesson to potential world leaders in the future. After the First World War, there were many loose ends and unresolved issues even though the authorities attempted to bring the wrongdoers to justice. Germany, specifically Hitler, was the little nudge needed to break the weak web of peace and send the world powers into a standoff. Germany had suffered many losses of land, people, and weaponry in the past, but Hitler made to regroup and begin taking territory back, believing he would eventually conquer the entire world. This was a futile attempt that eventually led to a six year war between the Axis and the Allies full of even more death, destruction, and border changing than the last great war. By the end, the Allies mostly won and tried to tie and cut the necessary knots to hold the countries at an agreement. Afterwards scientists worked on nuclear generating and weapons, trying to find the next great technological advance. Happenings like the nuclear disaster at Chernobyl and the Cuban Missile Crisis showed that this advance was great and also might destroy the planet if used as a weapon in a possible next war. True, the war was a disaster and could have been resolved in a less destructive manner, but it did force some unions and bring the world to a more maintainable cooperation.
