Britain Alone
Germany knew that Britain could be very formidable if left alone for long enough, and they were right to worry. They hadn't had enough time to plan an attack, so they had to just send the Luftwaffe in head on. The RAF was not prepared with far less aircraft operable than Germany, but they had their advantages in the airplanes' technology. In the end, Britain prevailed with considerable losses on both ends. Germany plowed on to plan a nighttime bombing, determined to conquer the United Kingdom. They gathered their bombers and attacked in early September, targeting places associated with Britain's economy and with many civilians near. Two thousand people died. Britain did retaliate, dropping bombs on Berlin, but not nearly as much as they had received.
