TWENTY SEVEN ;
sundayreal life !
The hours passed by at an agonizingly slow pace when Sunday finally arrived. Marley sat on the couch and tried to keep herself busy as she impatiently waited for his plane to land. And maybe it was her fault for expecting him to want to have what would most definitely be an emotionally exhausting conversation right after he got off the plane.
But Marley couldn't really bring herself to care that much. Not when this conversation has been needing to happen for so long. And especially not when Karl completely ghosted her the rest of his trip.
She was exhausted, but more than anything, she was over his bullshit.
His flight didn't get in until later that night, though. So she was left to try and distract herself while the minutes didn't even seem to tick by.
"Your head looks like it's gonna explode," Dream noted as he typed away at his computer. "You called me to keep you company while you waited, not put me through the trauma of watching one of my best friends head explode like a watermelon."
Marley offered him a nervous smile, despite not even knowing if he was looking at the camera or not. "Sorry...just thinking."
"Well you were making a weird face the entire time and I was kind of hoping it would get stuck like that."
"Shut up," she said with a fond roll of her eyes. "I'd still be better looking than you, so I don't wanna hear it."
Dream let out a loud laugh before slapping his desk, "you don't even know what I look like!"
"Yes I do?"
Dream was quiet for a few seconds before he sighed, "you haven't seen what I look like recently."
"You sent me a selfie of you crying literally last week. What the hell are you talking about?"
"That was past me, Mars!" He argued, "I've changed! Im a new man and I look completely different than the last time you saw me."
Marley blinked at the camera, looking completely unamused. "I doubt it."
"Well, I don't care if you doubt it," he replied, "i'm not turning my camera on so you're automatically wrong. I win, you lose."
"Or," she started with a grin, "I'm automatically right because I don't have any proof showing that i'm wrong. Kind of looks like I win, dont you think?"
Dream dramatically gasped at that, "are you trying to manipulate me into turning my camera on? You know i'm faceless for a reason and you're trying to take advantage of me because we're friends? I'm honestly so disappointed in you, Mars. I can't believe you're trying to gaslight me for no reason."
"You're such an idiot," she muttered as she looked away to hide her grin. "I hate you."
"Then why'd you call me and interrupt my super busy day?"
Marley hesitated, making Dream shout something about be victorious and always winning because he's cooler than her.
"You're annoying and I can't stand you," she said with a small smile. "But I will admit that I appreciate you keeping me company...even if you're insufferable most of the time."
"I'm a delight to be around, actually," he corrected, smile evident in his voice. "But of course, Mars. Anytime...how long until his flight lands?"
She shrugged and glanced at the time, "Few hours. Why?"
