"Everyday may not be good, but there is something good in every day."
REGINA's POINT OF VIEW
"Then just go to France, you mari stupide!"
"I will!"
"Good!"
Bumangon ako nang marinig ko ang boses nina Mom at Dad. I went downstairs to check what's happening, and I saw Dad holding a suitcase about to leave the house. Ano na naman ang nangyari? Where is he going?
"Dad, where are you going?" I asked. They stopped arguing and turned to me.
"France. Your mom is kicking me out," he said. I heard my mom gasp and she smacked Dad's arm.
"What do you mean kick you out? I didn't!" she said.
"Yes you did!"
"I just said you're not allowed in my office for three days and you suddenly said you're leaving for France!"
"If I'm not even allowed to see you for three days I might as well leave!"
"You're being unreasonable and childish!"
I yawned as I watched them fight. Normally, when fights like this happen I would step in and be the mediator because Mom can be a bit aggressive and my dad gets more unreasonable the longer they fight, but this time I'm not gonna stop them. Only because I think this is stupid, and I want to enjoy my summer vacation.
Pumunta ako sa kusina at kumuha ng pagkain. I brewed coffee and saved some for my parents. I grabbed the cereals and the milk and served myself a bowl of cereal. I also peeled and sliced an apple since I make it a point to eat fruits before having breakfast. When I returned to the living area with my food on the tray, I saw that they're still fighting. Hinayaan ko sila na magaway pa at pumunta ako sa kwarto ko para kunin ang cellphone ko. Pagbalik ko ay nagaaway pa rin silang dalawa.
What are these busy people doing, wasting their time? Tumingin ako sa relo sa taas ng television and cleared my throat to get their attention.
"Aren't you two supposed to be working?" I asked.
They stopped fighting and cleared their throat, their faces a shade of pink. I almost laughed but I don't want to embarrass them even more.
"And what about you, young lady?" Dad asks.
"What?" I asked.
"Have you finished everything you're supposed to do?" he asks.
"Yeah," I said, as-a-matter-of-factly. He nodded after a few seconds. They both finally went to their offices and I sighed. Finally, they stopped fighting. I turned on the television to watch a series I've been hooked on since before the vacation and ate my breakfast. After ko kumain ng breakfast ay niligpit ko na ang mga pinagkainan ko at nilagay ang mga plato sa dishwasher. I took my parents' mugs and poured them coffee.
Dad likes sweets when he's working so I grabbed a bunch of bonbons from the fridge and put them on a plate next to his coffee. Si Mom naman ay mahilig sa maasim na pagkain para magising siya kaya kumuha ako ng sliced pomelo at oranges mula sa fridge at nilagay naman iyon sa tabi ng baso ni Mom. I grabbed Dad's tray first and went to the basement where his office is.
I knocked before entering and found him already drowned in papers. I moved the papers to the side and gently put the tray there.
"Papa, ton café et tes bonbons," I said. He looked up for a moment and glanced at the tray and smiled at me.
"Merci chéri," he responded. Tumango lang ako. I was leaving until I remembered I had to tell him something.
"I'm going out this afternoon to watch a movie," I said.
